We’ve totally fallen for the nickname [name_m]Lenni[/name_m], and love the ‘light’ meaning, but don’t love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] - I’m thinking [name_f]Elena[/name_f] (but I know this is often pronounced E-lay-na), husband doesn’t like [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], I don’t like [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] (too similar to the washing powder for me). Anyone got the answer? Thanks!
I adore [name_f]Leni[/name_f], it’s so sweet and fun!
Some other names with the “len” sound:
[name_f]Briallen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] / [name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Lenka[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]
[name_f]Magdalena[/name_f]
[name_f]Maialen[/name_f]
[name_f]Milena[/name_f]
[name_u]Valentine[/name_u]
But it also works as a stretchier nickname! For example if you like [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] but not the washing powder association, maybe Leonora/Eleonora/Leonor would be different enough, and I think [name_f]Leni[/name_f] still works for it. You could also maybe do [name_f]Leontine[/name_f], [name_f]Lowenna[/name_f], [name_f]Lavender[/name_f], [name_f]Lavinia[/name_f], [name_f]Linnea[/name_f], [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], and [name_f]Elina[/name_f].
I’ll recommend [name_f]Helena[/name_f], which I love. It’s pronounced HEHL-ə-nə far more often than hə-LAYN-ə in [name_f]English[/name_f] (while the inverse is true for Elena).
FWI, [name_m]Lenni[/name_m] doesn’t really have a meaning, considering how many distinct names it can be short for - from [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] to [name_m]Leonard[/name_m]. We don’t really know what [name_f]Helena[/name_f] means either - but it most likely comes from helene (ἑλένη) which means “torch” - a meaning that might appeal to you.
And obviously [name_m]Lenni[/name_m] works well as a nickname for [name_f]Helena[/name_f].
Sorry to nitpick, but [name_f]Briallen[/name_f] doesn’t have a “Len” sound. The double l is pronounced like this (LL sound in Welsh - YouTube). The closest [name_f]English[/name_f] approximation is “Shen”, but that’s still far off.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Leonora[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] !
I know a little girl [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] whose nn is [name_u]Lenny[/name_u]
[name_m]Lenni[/name_m] as a nn for…
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorena[/name_f]
[name_f]Lowenna[/name_f]
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f]
I love [name_f]Yelena[/name_f]!
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
[name_f]Alina[/name_f] / [name_f]Alena[/name_f]
[name_f]Alejandra[/name_f]
Kaleni
[name_f]Malena[/name_f]
[name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
I love the previous suggestions of [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] and [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]! () I also love [name_f]Lenora[/name_f] but since you don’t, maybe [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f] or [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f]? [name_f]My[/name_f] apologies if those are repeats. And I absolutely LOVE [name_f]Leni[/name_f] as a full name! It is one I would use myself. Would you be open to that or do you prefer a longer name with [name_f]Leni[/name_f] as the nickname? Either way I don’t think you can go wrong. [name_f]Leni[/name_f] is a beautiful name on its own, and there are some great options for longer names that you can easily shorten.
I hope this helps!
