Eleanor, Helen, Helena, Penelope, or Nell? ๐ŸŒˆ

As the title states- Which of these names is your favorite? Why? Which sounds the friendliest?

If I were to use any of these names I would choose Nell as a nickname, do you have any other favorite nicknames for these names?

Thanks!! -Bee :honeybee::ribbon::potted_plant::seedling::teddy_bear::butterfly::artist_palette::rabbit:

This is tough

Ultimately, I think simple [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is my favourite โ€“ warm, friendly, and gentle, but with a bit of sass, spirit, and strength too. I like the concise and versatile feel it has too.

Over all, Iโ€™d rate them from fave-to-least:

[name_f]Nell[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f]

But I donโ€™t dislike any of them

[name_m]Other[/name_m] nicknames Iโ€™d ponder:

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] โ†’ [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_f]Leni[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] โ†’ [name_f]Hennie[/name_f], [name_f]Leni[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] โ†’ [name_f]Hennie[/name_f], [name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_f]Lainey[/name_f] (pn dependant)
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] โ†’ [name_m]Penn[/name_m], [name_m]Poe[/name_m], [name_f]Lolo[/name_f], [name_f]Pepper[/name_f]

Overall, I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is my favorite of them all. [name_f]She[/name_f] is such a warm, gentle, and friendly name, and I really love her sort of homespun and cottagecore simplicity. In practice, though, I see myself being tempted to use a full name and then have [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a nickname, and Iโ€™d probably go with [name_f]Helena[/name_f] from this list. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] would be my second choice for that, only because sheโ€™s so popular.

I like them in this order: [name_f]Nell[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f].

As for nicknames beyond [name_f]Nell[/name_f], I could seeโ€ฆ
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] โ†’ [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Noor[/name_f]
[name_f]Helen[/name_f] โ†’ [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], [name_f]Hen[/name_f]
[name_f]Helena[/name_f] โ†’ [name_m]Lenny[/name_m], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Laney[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] โ†’ [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Penny[/name_f], [name_f]Pen[/name_f], [name_m]Opie[/name_m], [name_f]Peppa[/name_f], [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f] โ†’ [name_f]Nellie[/name_f], [name_f]Nella[/name_f]

My favorites are [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] particularly if the goal is for the nickname [name_f]Nell[/name_f]. I love the nickname [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] so anything that would be [name_f]Nelle[/name_f] I would pick [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]. But I also love that you could be [name_f]Nellie[/name_f] to some, [name_f]Nell[/name_f] to others, and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] in places where you want to be formal or fancy or full named. I also really like the spelling [name_f]Nelle[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Nell[/name_f] but thatโ€™s just personal preference.

I adore [name_f]Nell[/name_f], more than I like any of the โ€˜fullโ€™ names, but generally prefer long names with a nickname.

In this case Iโ€™d choose [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] or [name_f]Helena[/name_f] - probably [name_f]Helena[/name_f] since sheโ€™s a Shakespearean name and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is feeling a little overworn to me with Bridgerton. I find [name_f]Helen[/name_f] dated and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] not particularly interesting (much prefer [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] or [name_f]Elanor[/name_f] because of their associated literary connections).

[name_f]Nell[/name_f] would be my pick for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], and [name_f]Helena[/name_f]. For [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] I would also consider [name_f]Penny[/name_f], [name_m]Penn[/name_m], Pea, [name_f]Pepper[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is so sweet, sheโ€™s really grown on me recently. I love how sheโ€™s so warm, simple, and vintage, with the right amount of spunk. Iโ€™d probably be inclined to use a longer name and have [name_f]Nell[/name_f] as a nickname, but honestly, sheโ€™s perfectly lovely on her own. My favorite full name for her is [name_f]Nella[/name_f]!

As for your other names, [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Helena[/name_f] land at a close second. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] is very sweetly retro to me, and I love Helenaโ€™s romance.

I love [name_f]Nell[/name_f]! [name_m]Like[/name_m] @OctaviaMay, my favorite full name is probably [name_f]Nella[/name_f], though I do love [name_f]Nell[/name_f] (and Nellie!) on its own.

Out of the others listed, I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Helen[/name_f] most, but you really canโ€™t go wrong. My partner likes [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nell[/name_f] for our own list!

My favourite is [name_f]Eleanor[/name] โ€œ[name_f]Nell[/name],โ€ but theyโ€™re all lovely (and all on my list)! I think [name_f]Nell[/name] on its own and [name_f]Penelope[/name] are probably the friendliest. I also like [name_f]Fenella[/name]!

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is my favorite. I think it has an elegant, timeless sound.
