Or even [name]Eleanora[/name]?!!

I prefer [name]Eleanor[/name] myself, but honestly it’s splitting hairs  just go with your leaning.

Well in most cases I think go with the classic spelling. But I always thought [name]Eleanor[/name] looked quite dated and dowdy, so I say add the e. I think it just makes it a lot fresher and younger. I also really like [name]Eleanora[/name] and I don’t know if you’re looking for nicknames, but [name]Elsie[/name] and Nory are adorable too.

Oh my gosh, I’ve been wondering the SAME THING. I wouldn’t call a baby [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Eleanore[/name] myself but I love the name and would possibly use it somehow. Right now, I think [name]Eleanore[/name] is a bit prettier for a first name, but [name]Eleanor[/name] is a classic spelling. I don’t think you could go wrong either way, as unhelpful as that is, sorry!

I would go for [name]Eleanor[/name]. It just looks sweeter to me, but besides that, I think it would be a lot easier to live with it, since it’s a much more common spelling.

I prefer [name]Eleanor[/name] which is the more common spelling. Which also would avoid her name being spelled wrong consistently.

[name]Eleanor[/name] as its more common and familiar and holds way more class.

[name]Eleanore[/name] looks prettier, fresher, and more feminine (and less dowdy).

I’ve never seen anyone spell it [name]Eleanore[/name]. Oddly, I did know an [name]Elinore[/name]. I think [name]Eleanor[/name] is the best, though.

I’d go with [name]Eleanor[/name] because it’ll avoid spelling issues and her having to correct people all the time.

[name]Eleanor[/name] by a mile - classic, elegant, and spunky (I could go on - but I’m biased). [name]Eleanore[/name], I think, would always have to correct people.

I believe [name]Elinor[/name] is a legit spelling as well. I think that’s how the [name]Elinor[/name] Dashwood character in Sense and Sensibility spells it. I’ve always loved this spelling, but would probably cause problems for the child, always having to correct people. She’d have a similar problem with [name]Eleanore[/name]. For that reason, I guess I’d stick with [name]Eleanor[/name].

I’d go with [name]Eleanor[/name] as well. Like another poster, i haven’t met an [name]Eleanore[/name], though I did know an [name]Elinor[/name] (she was [name]German[/name]).
It’s funny because i like “anne” better than “ann” (I think because I’m biased- it’s my mn, and also because my fn ends with an e, so i like the matching e on the end of anne) but in almost all other cases, I prefer the more pared down options for name spellings. [name]Isabel[/name] vs [name]Isabelle[/name], for example… and [name]Eleanor[/name] vs [name]Eleanore[/name], here too.

My name is [name]Eleanore[/name]. I am in my late 20’s.

This is the spelling that has been used in my family. I have a deceased great aunt who also spelled it [name]Eleanore[/name]. It is a less known spelling varient but it no less legitimate than [name]Eleanor[/name].

That being said I love how romantic my name is and my “extra e” only adds to that in my mind. Some people [name]DO[/name] misspell my name even after knowing me for years but it really doesn’t bother me. I always spell my name out for people because it’s just polite. I think a girl named [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Elinor[/name] will have to spell her name just as often. People do not assume to know how “[name]Eleanor[/name]” is spelled when I say it. The misspelling I get MOST? [name]Ellenor[/name]. No joke.

Here’s my personal opinion of the spelling varients: [name]Eleanor[/name] is classic no-nonsense; [name]Elinor[/name] is a touch spunkier; [name]Eleanore[/name] is romantic; and [name]Eleanora[/name] is frillier. [name]Eleanor[/name] is the most common spelling and probably the least confusing to others. I think [name]Eleanore[/name] looks prettier than [name]Eleanor[/name], but I am biased - I love my name.
