Ok baby name charts confuse me. Take [name_f]Elena[/name_f] for example… a name we are considering but I don’t usually like to use names in the top 50 (or top 100 if I can help it!!)
Nameberry puts [name_f]Elena[/name_f] at 59, BabyCenter at 27, The Bump at 132…. What’s accurate??

), Elena was ranked #49 in 2022 by the social security administration, which is the most recent data!
Yep, what baya said! They’ll update it with 2023’s data in [name_f]May[/name_f]. A lot of websites you mentioned rank their estimated current popularity and/or their popularity in their site.
The SSA website also allows you to check ranking for each state, and IDK if you are in [name_f]Montana[/name_f] like your username suggests, but it looks like [name_f]Elena[/name_f] was somewhere outside the Top 100 in [name_f]Montana[/name_f] in 2022 
[name_f]Elaina[/name_f] also appears to have been outside the Top 100 for [name_f]Montana[/name_f] in 2022
Agreed. For the US the SSA website is the correct information because its the actual government database of how many times the name was actually used for real babies and written on birth certificates that year. A lot of other countries also have similar government data that can be accessed but i’m not 100% sure where to find it. A lot of times the rankings given on name sites are based off of other things like how often the page for the name is visited based off of the site usage data and such.
Its good to note though that the SSA data lists each alternative spelling separately so names with lots of variations are often more popular than they look once you add all the variations together (the site lets you select to see the exact # of times the name was used as well as where it ranked) and a name might feel more popular if similar names are trendy. [name_f]Elena[/name_f] might feel a bit more popular than it actual is because there are a lot of [name_f]El[/name_f]- names that are trending right now.

The websites you mentioned use data from their own visitors, as far as I’m aware. If you are in the US, the SSA list is the official source
