Eli as nn for Elizabeth?

I am nowhere close to having kids, but I have always thought that if I do have a daughter, it might be nice to name her after my mom. My mom’s name is [name]Elizabeth[/name], and coincidentally, my grandmom on my dad’s side (who I was named after) always really loved that name and wanted a daughter named [name]Elizabeth[/name], but never had one. I’m not particularly crazy about the name, but I think its a really nice connection. For girls I like a lot of unisex, surname, and nature names, so I think [name]Eli[/name] would be adorable on a little girl! And I really like that [name]Elizabeth[/name] has so many other nn options : )
What do you think? Too far of a stretch?

Eh, I don’t like it. I prefer [name]Elle[/name], or [name]Lili[/name].

I love that! [name]Eli[/name] is super cute for a little girl.

I think that it’s cute and very doable. My only minor concern is that people may be inclined to pronounce it like “[name]Ellie[/name]” rather than [name]Eli[/name] so you may have to correct that. However, one of the great things about [name]Elizabeth[/name] is that it has so many different options for nicknames, as you’ve mentioned, so if she gets tired of correcting people she might just opt for another nickname.

It’s not my style, but I think it would work well!

I think it’s great if you want your daughter to constantly be mistaken for a boy. [name]Eli[/name] is sooooo masculine and people will assume it’s short for [name]Elijah[/name].

[name]Elle[/name] (like the letter ‘L’) or [name]Ellie[/name] is much nicer.

I think do-able.

I think it’s really cool, I never thought of [name]Eli[/name] as a nickname for [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I don’t think anyone will mistake her for a boy because of her nickname once she’s past toddler age (if they even do before then, considering how gender stereotypical most babies are dressed), but if they do, it’s not a big deal. I have [name]Elizabeth[/name] on my list for a girl too, also with a boyish nickname in mind. The great thing about having the name [name]Elizabeth[/name] is she can switch to a different nickname easily if she wants to later in life. An [name]Elizabeth[/name] has tons of options. But I think little [name]Eli[/name] would fit in just fine with [name]Addison[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Dylan[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]Alex[/name], [name]Sam[/name], [name]Taylor[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name], and so on. It’s becoming more and more common for names to be unisex.

I think a lot of people would call her [name]Ellie[/name], but aside from that I think it works and is a cute option for a girl named [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I think most will just think [name]Ellie[/name] despite it being spelled [name]Eli[/name] because it’s a girl…
