[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! Need help deciding on a name for baby boy. Wanted to get some thoughts on [name_m]Eli[/name_m], [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. I was also thinking about going with [name_u]Elias[/name_u] and calling baby [name_m]Eli[/name_m] but don’t love the name [name_u]Elias[/name_u]. Please help! Thanks in advance!
I like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] more than [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. They feel shorter, punchier and less overused to me, though all three of your choices are quite popular so that obviously doesn’t really bother you.
I get quite a traditional vibe from [name_m]Eli[/name_m], but because it’s especially short and has an unusual sound (i.e. doesn’t end in -n or -er like the vast majority of popular boys’ names), it still feels just the right amount of quirky to me.
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] feels slightly more modern to me, even though it’s a name with a long history of use. It has lots of elements which are very “current”: ends in -n, starts with a vowel, contains a high-value scrabble letter (V). It’s a very cool, solid choice for a boy.
I’ve never been a huge fan of [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]; I just don’t like the sound of it. But again, it strikes me as a solid, traditional-yet-feels-current name for a boy. Of your choices, I think this is the one which feels “safest” - whether that’s a good or a bad thing is up to you.
Hmmm. I actually like all of them (about equal in my mind) Have you thought of middle names yet? I would try different middle names with all of them and then see which ones sounds the best to you!
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] are my favourites. I like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] too but there’s something much more handsome about the others
My preference is…
- [name_m]Eli[/name_m]
- [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
- [name_u]Evan[/name_u]
I love [name_u]Elias[/name_u], but as you’re not keen - I didn’t rate it. I think [name_m]Eli[/name_m] is a wonderfully flexible name - adorable on a baby, respectable on a man. [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] is similar - it’s quite spunky. [name_u]Evan[/name_u] for me just sounds like an old man, and I have never really liked the sound of it.
My favorite is [name_m]Eli[/name_m]… Have you considered [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Elias[/name_u] to get to the nickname [name_m]Eli[/name_m]?
(though I prefer [name_m]Eli[/name_m] as the full name.). I like the simplicity of the name which makes it very versatile.
I get different vibes from [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u]. [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] strikes me as traditional and athletic. [name_u]Evan[/name_u] strikes me as modern and intellectual.
I love [name_m]Eli[/name_m] and [name_u]Evan[/name_u]. While I like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], I just feel like I know so many [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]'s.
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] feels spunky and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] feels solid. Both are great.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about Evren?
All of the names are nice, I just happen to prefer [name_m]Eli[/name_m].
100% prefer [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. Its the most manly sounding [name_f]IMO[/name_f].
My preference in order:
- [name_m]Eli[/name_m] (love)
- [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]
- [name_u]Evan[/name_u]
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]! So charming; I know a little guy named [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] and he is the sweetest, smartest little guy on the planet. It doesn’t seem like it would work for a toddler/child but it really does. Plus its a solid name as he ages.
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] is my second favorite and [name_u]Evan[/name_u] my least favorite of your group. Along with the names others said, you could use [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] to get [name_m]Eli[/name_m] instead of [name_u]Elias[/name_u].
Good luck!
I like [name_m]Eli[/name_m] the best.
My favourite would probably be [name_u]Evan[/name_u], then [name_m]Eli[/name_m], then [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. I have bad associations with the name [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], so I have never liked it. However, I know a gorgeous little boy called [name_u]Evan[/name_u], and that made me really like the name. [name_u]Elias[/name_u] is okay.
I like [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. you can use it
