Any thoughts on [name]Elia[/name] for a boy? Think [name]Elijah[/name] without the J sound. Or will it seem like we are using [name]Elijah[/name] and forgot the j? [name]Love[/name] that it is Hebrew and goes with our last name and DS’s name but just not sure if it is too out there?
I actually like [name]Elia[/name] better than [name]Elijah[/name]. It would certainly be a great alternative to the more popular [name]Elijah[/name]. The only [name]Elia[/name] I’ve ever heard was the actor/director [name]Elia[/name] Kazan who was Greek and originally named [name]Elias[/name]. I don’t think it’s too “out there” as [name]Elia[/name] is the Italian version of [name]Elijah[/name]. The only issue I can see is the fact that some parents are now choosing the name for their daughters. I’m not sure how they would pronounce (eg. el-ee-ah). My advice: if you like it and the name goes well with your surname, go for it!
My husband’s cousins named their daughter [name]Elia[/name]. I think its beautiful-Good luck!
I’m sorry-I thought you meant for a girl.
I honestly love it. Sure, it’s not heard often, but it’s so sweet! Have you considered [name]Ilia[/name], [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Asa[/name], or [name]Ira[/name] as well?
I too thought this was for a girl. I have known of several Aliyahs and just assumed [name]Elia[/name] was another spelling.
If possible gender confusion isn’t an issue for you, I say 100% yes. I love [name]Elia[/name] for a boy.
I like it, but I do think I’d assume girl if I saw or heard the name. [name]Elias[/name] is all boy to me, have you considered [name]Elias[/name]?
I think of [name]Charles[/name] Lamb, so in my opinion it could be used for both a boy or girl. Great literary connection either way.
I need to be honest with you, I really feel its entirely too feminine for a boy, especially with the abundance of little [name]Ella[/name] s around.
There are plenty of really nice, gentle yet masculine names to choose, how about:
[name]Elias[/name]
[name]Eli[/name]
[name]Micah[/name]
[name]Aaron[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name]
[name]Luca[/name]
[name]James[/name]
[name]Evan[/name]
[name]Ethan[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
noah
[name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Asa[/name]
Im sorry I just felt the need to speak up, I really do feel like you’d be setting him up for teasing.
[name]Levi[/name] is another gentle, yet masculine name
Take care,
[name]Jane[/name]
