I’m wondering if there are any Italian or Spanish speakers here who could help me spell this name correctly in that language. Would Eliana, Elliana, Elianna, or Ellianna be more accurate using Spanish or Italian language rules to be said “ell-ee-ah-na”?
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is best in Spanish- the LL makes a different sound than a single L, although most speakers would probably understand through context, and only 1 N is really needed.
I think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is best in both languages!
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] would be the easiest, in any language. Definitely not [name_f]Elliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellianna[/name_f], those would be said as ay-lee-aw-nuh.
As others have pointed out, [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] would be most accurate using Spanish or Italian language rules. I tend to notice that Spanish spelling rules are quite phonetic (spelt as it sounds, for example, [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_m]Tomás[/name_m] instead of Thomas), or perhaps [name_f]English[/name_f] is quite non-phonetic.
I would also say that for the ‘ah-na’ pronunciation, I would spell it -ana instead of -anna, so that it isn’t mispronounced as ‘el-ee-an-nah’.
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] or [name_f]Elianna[/name_f] would work in Italian !
Don’t pick two Ls for Spanish because the sound is different
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] would be your simplest spelling to work in both languages.
Another vote for [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]! In Spanish I’m guessing you’d get the pronunciation you’re going for with any of those spellings (I don’t know about Italian). But as others have said, double “L” makes closer to a “y” sound in Spanish words, and extraneous consonants (like the double “N”) aren’t usually used.
Eliana for both Spanish and Italian.
In Italian, double consonants are pronounced twice (so the N would be pronounced twice in Elianna [like in the English word “penknife”], and the L would be pronounced twice in Elliana, and you’d have a double-whammy of double consonants with Ellianna).
[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] in Spanish, although I think if you spell It Elliana/Ellianna people would get that is “Eliana”
