I’d like to find a girl name that has similar pronunciation with “[name_f]Alice[/name_f]” but starts with “[name_f]El[/name_f].”
I like the sound “EH–l–ih–s” but not sure how it is spelled in the US.
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you spell it?
Here are some “[name_f]El[/name_f]” options I found online: [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] – Boy name? [name_f]Elise[/name_f] – I like its spelling the best, but it’s pronounced “E–lees”? [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t really like the sound of “E.” [name_f]Ellise[/name_f] – [name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced? [name_u]Elice[/name_u] – The spelling looks kinda weird?
Many people think that [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a boy name. What do you think?
Please let me know if you have any thoughts!
I’d appreciate all the suggestions.
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is unisex and gives you the pronunciation you want. I like it. I like the reference to [name_f]Emily[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] whose pseudonym was [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Bell[/name_u]. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is the best of the other spellings and is pronounced [name_f]El[/name_f]-EEZ.
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is the one pronounced how you want. To me its very masculine, but I do know someone with a sister called [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] (who is in her mid-life 20s), so it’s not unheard of
I love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for either a boy of girl. You’re right that [name_f]Elise[/name_f] would be EE-lees and have a hard E sound at the beginning, not an [name_f]El[/name_f] sound. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] fits the pronunciation you’re looking for and is very nice! I love how it’s not frilly nor too masculine for a girl.
