Ellen?

Lately I’ve been crushing on the name [name]Ellen[/name]. I’m not yet completely sure of it, as I’m worried it is too common or not elegant enough. What does everyone think of it?

Thanks!

[name]Ellen[/name] feels very 50s and 60s to me. I get the same vibe from [name]Ellen[/name] that I get from [name]Linda[/name] and [name]Sandra[/name].

I like [name]Ellen[/name]! It’s grown on me recently after watching the Dutch cyclist, [name]Ellen[/name] van Dijk, in the Olympics. I think it’s very elegant and classic without being out there or dated and I can see it working for a girl of any age. As for popularity… nameberry says it’s #699 in 2011! Very pretty, but if you think it’s not elegant/exciting enough you can always team it with a more exotic MN

I like [name]Ellen[/name]. There is a very smart, very talented girl I go to school with (high school) named [name]Ellen[/name] so I have a good association!

I like [name]Ellen[/name], as a full name and nickname. But if you want something that is more elegant you can choose [name]Elena[/name].

[name]Ellen[/name] is beautiful  It is classic & pretty. [name]Karen[/name] is another 50/60’s name but I know a [name]Karen[/name] who is my age (we’re babies of the 80’s) & her name seems totally fresh in real life because none of our other friends have that name but we are all familiar with it. I think [name]Ellen[/name] would have the same vibe. You can always use the nn [name]Ellie[/name] when she is little if [name]Ellen[/name] seems too serious for a toddler. Or you can use [name]Ellen[/name] as a nn for [name]Ellena[/name] or [name]Elena[/name]. Good luck

My sisters name is ellen and she loves her name. HATES when people call her [name]Ellie[/name], though…which happens often.

You called?

I used to dislike my name because for whatever reason growing up, people would always call me [name]Helen[/name], [name]Emily[/name], or [name]Eileen[/name]. But as I got older, it definitely grew on me! Nobody ever really called me [name]Ellie[/name] or anything though.

I really like [name]Ellen[/name]. I think it is classic and pretty. I also like [name]Karen[/name].

I love [name]Ellen[/name]. It was once on my list, and I should really put it back on. I think its classy, regal and gorgeous. I don’t find it dated at all.

My first name is [name]Ellen[/name], but I’ve always gone by my middle name – [name]Elisabeth[/name]. I’ve always hated [name]Ellen[/name]. Anytime I told someone it was my first name, I got a laugh. Not to say it’s not a pretty name but it wasn’t well received by peers. [name]Every[/name] first day of school for 13 years I got, [name]Ellen[/name]? Are you present? And I had to say, “Please call me [name]Elisabeth[/name]”. Everyone would snicker. I’m 25 now, so we’re talking early 90’s and into the early 2000’s.

Possibly I wasn’t fond of it because it wasn’t the name I went by and it felt awkward to be called something I didn’t associate myself with. Who knows? But I do know an [name]Ellen[/name] now, who is a year younger than me and it really works on her.

That’s my take on [name]Ellen[/name]… sorry it was negative, but truthful!
