Elliah?

Does the spelling look weird? It’s supposed to be pronounced /Ellie-ah/ and it’s actually a popular female name in my country (Bulgaria, Елия). I wasn’t sure how to spell the name because I don’t want people to pronounce it as /Eh-LYE-uh/ or /Elle-LEE-uh/, the first syllable is supposed to be accentuated in
the name Elliah.

No looks like “Eli-uh” you would have to do [name_f]Eleia[/name_f] or something

I’d do Ellia because Elliah looks like Elijah so I’d pronounce it with the stress on the second syllable. I have a character named Ellia, with your pronunciation

i like the spelling eleia, but i’d pronounce that eh-LAY-uh. i agree with the suggestion of ellia!

I’d absolutely pronounce Elliah as eh-LYE-uh!

I think that [name_f]Ellia[/name_f] and [name_u]Elia[/name_u] (which is most literal) are definitely closer to Елия. [name_f]Ellia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] plus [name_m]Elio[/name_m] and [name_u]Elia[/name_u] look so similar that I think the ELL-ee-uh pronunciation becomes more intuitive.

I pronounced it as ELL-ee-uh, but it wasn’t super intuitive. I think [name_f]Ellia[/name_f] is a better way to go, but I personally didn’t have a super difficult time pronouncing it correctly with the h.

Thanks for the suggestions!

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is Elliah, pronounced Ellie-ah. It occasionally gets mistaken for ‘el-lie-ah’

It’s awesome that your daughter’s name is Elliah! How did you choose it? Sorry for asking, I thought it was an uncommon name except for my country.
