Our first son’s name is [name_m]Gideon[/name_m]. We are considering the name [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for our second boy. What are your first impressions or presuppositions with this name?
P.S. We’d like a strong middle name, like [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. Other strong middle name suggestions?
[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] make a great sibling set. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a handsome, sweet, put-together, and fun-loving guy.

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is so handsome, I never contemplated it as a first name until I watched Age of [name_f]Adaline[/name_f] and fell in love with the name! I honestly couldn’t think of a more perfect name to go with [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] than [name_u]Ellis[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]! To me it gives off the same kind of vibe as [name_m]Gideon[/name_m], and I imagine a creative, intelligent, handsome and happy boy.

Unfortunately, the only [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] I’ve ever met was a girl, so she is all I see when I hear the name, although I think it goes well with [name_m]Gideon[/name_m].

This might be unpopular but I think [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sounds more feminine. Maybe [name_m]Edison[/name_m] or [name_u]Ellison[/name_u]?
I love [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] (for a boy or girl). I think it sounds more masculine than feminine (though there’s a, I believe Dutch, movie called the [name_m]Black[/name_m] Book with a great female lead called [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]). [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] are awesome brother names!
My immediate first impression of [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is educated & literary, because of the author [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] Peters. Peters took her nom-de-plume from her brother [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] as an aside, Peters used the name [name_u]Elis[/name_u] (male) for a Welsh princeling in one of her books. So for me, [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is male. I think it sounds great w/[name_m]Gideon[/name_m], & [name_u]Jude[/name_u] sounds great w/[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. Good luck!
