Me and my DH absolutely love the name [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] for a girl after both of our favourite authors, [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] bell ([name_f]Emily[/name_f] Brontë) and [name_u]Bret[/name_u] [name_u]Easton[/name_u] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]. We’ve had mixed reviews on this with people absolutely either living or hating it!
I love double barralled names and boy names for girls and I like the sound of [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_u]Harper[/name_u]. What’s everyone’s thoughts?
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is nice. It’s not my style but it’s a pretty name. I’m not a fan of [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_u]Harper[/name_u]. Double barreled names have always sounded weird to me if they’re not something like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] since I don’t come from a place that uses them.
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u], first and middle name would be fine. You could still call her by her full name.
I don’t think [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_u]Harper[/name_u] sounds that well. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Harper[/name_u]-[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]?
I think [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] works best on its own or with a short second half: [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_f]Claire[/name_f] or [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_f]Mae[/name_f] or even [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_u]Bret[/name_u]. I think it is fine to use [name_u]Harper[/name_u] as the middle name, but I personally wouldn’t choose to hyphenate [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_u]Harper[/name_u].
I think she will be mistaken for a boy. I think [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] sounds better than [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u].
I’m going to mix things up here because I actually REALLY like it. Normally I do not like [name_u]Harper[/name_u] but that is only because of personal associations that would not matter to anyone else. I’m also from the southeast US so double barrel names are common. I prefer [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] before [name_u]Harper[/name_u] just because I am more familiar with [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] as a surname and if I were to hear [name_u]Harper[/name_u] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] I would assume I was hearing the child’s first and last name. I do agree with dropping the hyphen though. I would say [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Harper[/name_u] is unisex but for me it definitely leaned more feminine. Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]!
I think [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a great name! I’m not a fan of double barreled names. I am also not sure about the [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_u]Harper[/name_u] combo even if you love double barelled names, I don’t know if they go well together? I think it would suit better with a feminine name if you were going to double barrel - maybe [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]-[name_f]Jane[/name_f]?
