I think I prefer [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] with your other boys names. With that being said though, I love how [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] flows with [name_u]Hartley[/name_u]. SO I voted [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] cause I think I like it “best” but my vote is kinda torn there. LOL Im not much help am I? Sorry!!!

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] sounds like a good, “strong” name. I think it’s a good name to grow up with.

I prefer [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] with your boys names. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] Surname is very surnamey to me. [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] is my favorite.

Personally I prefer [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], so handsome and imo fits wonderfully with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u]. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] has more of a unisex, surname feel to me, and with [name_f]El[/name_f] names becoming so popular for girls, could start to swing more to the feminine side as an alternative to [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], etc…

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] are both very handsome. I slightly prefer [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u].

Thanks for the responses so far! I love hearing everyone’s reactions to both names.

I really like both names, and feel a little sad about dropping either one. We’re set on [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] though since it was my grandpa’s name and another one of our favorites. So hard! Especially since we’re planning this will be our last baby, so no possibility of using the other one in the future.

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] is a favorite of mine, but I can see the girls overtaking it soon. Thus, I vote for [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].

love the name [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. It fits nicely with [name_m]Liam[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u]. good luck!

[name_u]Ellis[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] does have a unisex vibe, and that’s precisely why I like it for your third son. If we don’t want [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] to “go to the girls,” we have to continue using it for boys and not shy away from it because it has the potential to go to the girls. [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], and [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] are excellent as brothers.

It’s interesting that more people seem to think that [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] may become a girl’s name because I was thinking that [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] (not the spelling but the sound) was more likely to be recognized as a girl’s name.

I came across both names while looking through British and Irish names, and in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m] in 2012 both [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] were top 100 boys names. They didn’t show up in the top 1000 for girls for any spelling variation. It’s interesting that these very established boy-only names in [name_f]England[/name_f] are considered unisex or even “girly” here. Of course, I call one of my sons [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], so I’m clearly not opposed to using a name that is ambiguous or more often heard for girls

[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] always wins my affections. It’s just such a solid name. I don’t like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] because the “[name_f]Elle[/name_f]” sound is too feminine for me. [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] is amazing too.

I’m in the [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] camp! What a great name and so fitting with with your other boys. I love it!
