I have written before about my partner’s love for [name_m]Elmer[/name_m], a discovered family-tree name that he has set his mind on for our future son’s name. Mind you, we are not even expecting.
SO Since I maybe have time to change his mind, or find a compromise, I have been thinking about similar sounding names, particularly:
My favorite is [name_m]Elton[/name_m]. While the primary association in the US will still be [name_m]Elton[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m], I don’t think this will be a bad thing at all. I think it’s lovely and not too common!
I really love [name_m]Elwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Elvin[/name_m]! So handsome, unexpected, and sweet.
other ‘[name_f]El[/name_f]’ names:
[name_m]Elbridge[/name_m]
[name_m]Eldan[/name_m]/Elden
[name_u]Eldar[/name_u]
[name_m]Eldon[/name_m]
[name_m]Eldred[/name_m]
[name_m]Eldrich[/name_m]
[name_m]Eldridge[/name_m]
[name_m]Elian[/name_m]
[name_u]Elias[/name_u]
[name_m]Elihu[/name_m]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellington[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Elm[/name_u] (this could work as a first or middle to honor/freshen up [name_m]Elmer[/name_m]!)
[name_m]Elmore[/name_m]
[name_m]Elroy[/name_m]
[name_m]Elson[/name_m]
[name_m]Elwood[/name_m]
I quite like [name_m]Elton[/name_m], I feel like it’s going to be a trending name in the years to come. I get a bit of a preppy vibe from it, like the character Elton in Clueless.
I really love [name_m]Elmer[/name_m], actually! I’m not in the US and I’m also a bit too young for the height of Looney Tunes, so to me it’s a lovely, underused vintage name with a current sound and sort of naturey vibe.
Elwood was the one that sprang to mind instantly for me too. It really fits your brief, and it’s so effortlessly cool and funky!
Elm, [name_m]Elwin[/name_m], [name_m]Elian[/name_m], [name_u]Elias[/name_u], [name_m]Elihu[/name_m], [name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_u]Ellery[/name_u], [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Elmore[/name_m] are all really great suggestions too.
Elvar is another one I really like (Scandinavian), or [name_u]Eliot[/name_u], [name_m]Elior[/name_m], [name_m]Elvis[/name_m] (probably still too [name_u]Presley[/name_u]), [name_m]Elgin[/name_m]…
I like [name_m]Elmer[/name_m]! But if you’re not feeling it, my favourite from your list is [name_m]Elwin[/name_m]. I actually know an [name_m]Elwyn[/name_m] who spells it that way which I think looks even nicer.
I also like one of the previous suggestions of [name_m]Eldon[/name_m]. I don’t mind [name_m]Elton[/name_m] but it feels very tied to [name_m]Elton[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] for me, [name_m]Eldon[/name_m] could be a nice alternative.
I also know an [name_u]Eldar[/name_u], which you might like?
I like [name_m]Elwin[/name_m] the most. [name_m]Elvin[/name_m] is too close to [name_f]Elf[/name_f] for me. If you have a girl, perhaps [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]?
