I went through an early stage of thinking it was the stupidest name alive, and then I really liked it after seeing someone with the name on some TV show (Leverage, I think?). Then I got bored with it (and hated the thought that she’d be fated with the nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], which I honestly can’t stand), and now I can appreciate it; I think it suits my car perfectly. I don’t know that I’d use it, and I’m still scared off by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], but I do think it’s a pretty name. I think most Americans will say ell-oh-dee or ella-dee, but I think in [name_m]French[/name_m], the proper pronunciation is AY-loh-dee, because of the accent over the first “E”. I call my car Liddy, but I think [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] are cute for it, too. My car’s full name is [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], which I really like. When it had been on my list for an actual little person, I had liked [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] are family names for me (although I wasn’t intentionally naming my car after family, hahaha). I think something like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] would be lovely, too.

I think the spunky middle name adds charm to it and kind of complements the cutesy-ness of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] as it does not go into too girly territory.
I love the name [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]… But [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Wren[/name_f] is cute and unexpected at the same time.
If I can think of any short names like [name_f]Wren[/name_f] I’ll get back to you, but I do love this name.

Thanks everyone for your opinions! I love this name, but the pronunciation kind of throws me off a bit, I guess you could say. I met someone with the name and she says it like ell-uh-dee (ok, I’m horrible at writing pronunciations out!!) And I know a lot of people say it’s said like [name_f]Melody[/name_f] with out the M, but again that sounds like ell-uh-dee to my ears. Is it wrong to say it that way verses ell-oh-dee?

It’s pronounced like melody minus the M. I think it’s a really cute name. I like a lot of the suggestions for middle names above, but [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Wren[/name_f] is gorgeous. Go with your gut!
I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] a lot. It is on my long list, and it’s on my hubby’s short list. It is pronounced like melody without he m. I like the nn Loddie.
I would use [name_f]Belle[/name_f] as a mn, because that is my grandma’s mn. [name_f]Wren[/name_f] is a very spunky choice.
I so want to love this name, but when I say it aloud it sounds like [name_f]Ella[/name_f]-dee ([name_f]Melody[/name_f] sounds like [name_f]Mella[/name_f]-dee). I have a flat [name_m]New[/name_m] [name_m]York[/name_m]/[name_m]New[/name_m] [name_f]England[/name_f] accent, so it could be a regional thing.
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] was on our list as #1 for the first 7 months of my pregnancy but as time went on, I got tired of people saying “Oh, like [name_f]Melody[/name_f] without the M.” Naturally I quickly veteod the name and we went back to square one 
but it is a lovely name.
