Eloise nicknames I haven’t thought of...?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,

We’re pretty settled on [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] for our new baby girl. Those who have seen my previous posts may be aware my only hiccup with this name has been potential nicknames as our daughter [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is often called [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]. While my intention is to call her [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] and hope that others do the same, my one hang up is the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], which I really don’t like. I think the best way to avoid people choosing a nickname like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] on their own is to guide them to a nickname that we choose. The issue is that I think I’ve thought of most and they just aren’t doing it for me. Here are the ones we’ve come up with so far and why they don’t work. Would [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] any creative ideas you can come up with as a nickname for [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f].

[name_f]Elle[/name_f]- I think this is very sweet and goes well with [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] but it’s a little too close for comfront to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and I’m nervous people will jump to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. We also have friends who just named their daughter [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and it feels a little close.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f]- Same as above, plus too common.

[name_u]Lou[/name_u]- I love this, but my daughter is [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and we call her [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u] already. It’s not a nickname anyone outside of me, my husband and my mom really use, so it could work, but I’d prefer something more uniquely hers.

[name_f]Lulu[/name_f]- Too cutesy next to [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]. Want to avoid anymore nicknames with repeating sounds.

[name_f]Lola[/name_f]- [name_m]Just[/name_m] doesn’t feel right and husband doesn’t like it.

Lo- This has potential but I don’t love it.

[name_f]Lula[/name_f]- Cute but feels like a bit of a stretch. [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t necessarily want to venture too far from [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] which I love.

[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t like.

[name_f]Elise[/name_f]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t like- also too close to [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] to really be a nickname in my opinion.

Izzy- Already taken by a friend

[name_f]Lise[/name_f]- [name_m]Don[/name_m]’t like. I know a few [name_u]Lisa[/name_u]’s and this is their nickname.

Can there possibly be any I haven’t come up with?? Thanks all!!

Lissy
[name_f]Lois[/name_f]
[name_f]Nell[/name_f]/ie
[name_f]Leese[/name_f]
Although I like [name_f]Lula[/name_f], i dont think it’s a stretch

[name_m]Louie[/name_m]
L.O. or Elo
E
Elanne
[name_f]Sanne[/name_f]
[name_m]Zan[/name_m]

I second [name_f]Lois[/name_f] as a potential nickname!

I really like Lo, and how about [name_f]Else[/name_f]? It has a nice sort of scandi vibe to me, and not so cutesy as [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. Or maybe Isa (EES-uh)?

I have known of an [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] who goes by Elo, and think this would work. [name_u]Love[/name_u] idea of [name_f]Nell[/name_f].

[name_f]Sissy[/name_f]
[name_f]Nan[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_f]Nanette[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f] from [name_f]Anne[/name_f]
[name_f]Ena[/name_f] from the combo [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] ([name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] was known as [name_f]Ena[/name_f])
I would even use [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] - but I have a pretty broad idea about nns.

I love the suggestion of [name_f]Nell[/name_f] and think it works beautifully with the sister name!

I like Weezy.
My daughter is [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and let me tell you EVERYONE who meets her assumes she goes by [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. She doesn’t (though if she ever decides to, I’m fine with it). [name_m]Even[/name_m] though everyone calls her that at first, she does not relate to the name [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] in anyway. So I don’t think you need to have a nickname name planned to prevent her from becoming attached to [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
I will say my daughter was [name_f]Lulu[/name_f] for quite awhile, but even that happened naturally. It was a nickname she chose for herself. Interesting that it wasn’t [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] since people are quick to call her that at playgrounds and such. But now, at the ripe old age of 5, she identifies primarily with [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and introduces herself as such.

This is a good point. Perhaps if we have Lo, [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] in our minds she will just start to become one. I think people don’t really start using nicknames until kids are a bit older anyway so we have some time to feel out what’s hers. And if she decides she’s [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] one day then ok. But I’d rather try to guide people away from it initially.

[name_f]Luanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f]
[name_f]Lolly[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilo[/name_f]
[name_f]Lianne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lissie[/name_f]
[name_f]Essa[/name_f]

Thanks all! [name_f]Nell[/name_f] is quite cute!

Not a fan of [name_f]Lois[/name_f] but Lo is growing on me. Though then I think if we were to go with Lo, we just go with [name_u]Lou[/name_u] and stop calling her sister [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] [name_u]Lou[/name_u]…

Appreciate the suggestions!
