Elvira?

I’ve never heard of either actually otherwise I might not have fallen in live with the name. I think it’s always easier (at least for me) to accept bad connotations afterwards since they font seem to bother me that much after all.
I really do wonder if it’s an American association or a general one (I think it the former)?

From your list my favorite girls’ names with [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] would be [name_f]Ida[/name_f] and [name_f]Flora[/name_f], although [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], Madita, [name_f]Viola[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are runners up. From you Boys’ list my favorites with [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] are [name_m]Beckett[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m], and [name_u]August[/name_u].
The only names on your list that I wouldn’t use for [name_f]Elvira[/name_f]'s siblings are [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] since they all have the [name_f]El[/name_f]- beginning.

I really love [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elva[/name_f] actually. It would be on my list if I thought my FH wouldn’t just veto it before I finished saying it. lol. I use both pronunciations. [name_f]El[/name_f]-vee-ra in [name_m]German[/name_m] and [name_f]El[/name_f]-vy-ra in English. I love both. Sadly I think it’s relegated to the GP list but it will definitely make an appearance on an very extended list should it every come to that. I’m super psyched someone else is asking/thinking about [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] and it’s not just me.

It’s funny that you mentioned [name_f]Flora[/name_f] since I thought that if I’d ever use [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] or [name_f]Flora[/name_f], the other one would get lost since they have the same ending.

Someone loving [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], that’s great! I think I would just adapt the pronunciation into the English language and since the name is not of English origin or even very popular, it would be easy to get away with. Especially if you live in a part in the US with a larger Spanish or Italian population.

I live in the UK and I’ve never heard of the goth woman before. I believe it’s more of an association in the US.

Anyway, I think [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] is totally gorgeous! I think of character from the beautiful Swedish film [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_u]Madigan[/name_u].

I have two associations with the name: [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] the goth woman (pro. ell-vye-ra) and [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] from the play [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Spirit[/name_f] (pro. ell-veer-a). The second is obviously more appealing, thought the first is what I was familiar with for most of my youth. It’s probably just an American thing, though; so if you’re primarily going to be living elsewhere, that association shouldn’t be an issue. I can definitely see the beauty in [name_f]Elvira[/name_f]–it’s quite exotic and glamorous.

I really hoped that would be the case and it was more of an American association
From your suggestions I love
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]

One of my all time personal favorite! Its is so beautiful! I´d pair it with sibling names like; [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_m]Jasper[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], you know classic names. [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], [name_f]IMO[/name_f], goes very well with [name_u]August[/name_u] for a brother. [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is one of my favorites, or [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], if you like those  Good luck!

Someone who loves [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], that’s fantastic! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce it the way I do?
I think [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] might be my favourite sibset of them all. The names seem perfect together
I also adore [name_u]August[/name_u] with it. [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] are both very sweet.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first association with it is the ghost from [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] [name_f]Spirit[/name_f], who i used to pretend to be as a child. So i can’t say i actually like the name, but i have a certain fondness for it.

But as an American, i will say the gothic vampire connection is very strong. I don’t actually know where it came from, as I’ve never seen a book/film where there was a gothic/vampire named [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], but somehow i still know the connection, you know? So I’m assuming it’s just that ubiquitous in American culture. But if you never plan on living here it probably won’t bother you.

No plans on living there so far but I definitely understand what you mean. For me a name like that would be [name_u]Dexter[/name_u], never saw or really heard much of the show but I still associate a (tv) murderer with it.

I think [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] is really nice. I am Australian and I have vaguely heard of the [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] vampire-woman but that hardly deters me. And I think the sibling names @hnluv posted are all perfect. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] a sibling set called [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_f]Elvira[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] & [name_f]Alice[/name_f] <3.

Other names that you may like, or use for potential siblings - Silas, Esther, Luna, Amaris, Aurora, Alma, Lucian, Roman.

That really is a dreamy sibset.
I also like your suggestions of [name_f]Esther[/name_f] (though not a big fan on names starting with the same letter) and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
Thank you!

[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] actually has a lot of tradition in Spain and Portugal as well. It was the name of several princesses and has appeared in literature and operas. I think it has a royal, medieval feel to it  We love it! That’s why we named our daughter [name_f]Elvira[/name_f]. And we do live in the US  I don’t think an old movie will do any harm. We say it your way [name_f]El[/name_f] [name_f]BEE[/name_f] RAH!
