[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries,
Im due with quads soon and we love the name [name_f]Vera[/name_f] for one of our girls, to honor my grandmother. We were thinking of using it either as a middle name or [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] nn [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. I recently came across the name [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] and I think its really pretty although it has a connection that may be perceived as negative. Theres an 80’s “horror” movie called [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] about a dark woman I heard, and Im worried if I do name one of my girls this the connection will be obvious and she will get teased for it. Whats your thoughts on the name?
I’ve never heard of the movie! I think nothing to worry about there! [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] is pretty! Potential for nickname [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] (which I think is adorable), but isn’t a risk if she goes by [name_f]Vira[/name_f].
[name_f]Valeria[/name_f] is also pretty, but reminds me of the plant - [name_m]Valerian[/name_m].
I personally don’t know that connection but I’m not into horror films. To me the name feels christmassy I guess because of its meaning and the word reminds me of elves…
I have never heard about the film.
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] in my country feels vintage (late 19th century to early 20 century) and feels operatic, passionate, reminds me of a dark scarlet red. Like flamenco in spirit. The most natural nickname for me is [name_f]Elvi[/name_f].
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] does have a slightly dark and witchy vibe, but I wouldn’t think badly of an [name_f]Elvira[/name_f]
[name_f]Elvira[/name_f] the character is an extremely popular character, but she’s, at least for the majority, a positive and beloved character, to the point people might actually think you named them after her. Her character is comparable to [name_f]Morticia[/name_f] from Addam’s Family. Either way it’s a gorgeous international name with a nice moody, glamorous vibe to it
The only [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] I know of is [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] Anderfjärd. I think [name_f]Elvira[/name_f] is pretty.
The character is all I would think about with the name
