embarrassing question

I’m entirely new to these message boards–this is my first post, in fact–and I have a question. What does “DH” stand for? Using context clues, I imagine that “husband” is the H part”? I’m from a sports-aholic family, so to me this looks like “designated hitter” (as in baseball). Sorry to everyone for whom this is an obvious question, and thanks in advance for the answer.

I never asked… and tech don’t know, but assumed it meant Dear Husband. :stuck_out_tongue:

Know how you feel! I thought it was designated husband at first. Which honestly, I prefer to dear husband. Lol

Oh, I’m so glad I’m not alone here! The first several posts that used the abbreviation spoke of “DH” negatively, as in “These are names I like, but DH won’t get on board.” So I assumed it was “Doubting Husband.” But more recently, I’ve read posts where it’s more like, “DH and I are trying to come up with names. What do you think of these?” So, like you, wagnerem, I started to think it was “Dear Husband.” But I’m with dotsmom: I like “Designated Husband”! lol

Dear Husband is correct.

[name]Do[/name] I get a cookie now? haha

Mmm. A cookie sounds good right about now…

That pretty much applies to all members of the family…DS, DD, for son and daughter…and in my case, I have two DSSs Dear Step-Sons…

Thanks, gchic! And wangerem, I’m now craving cookies, lol.

Maybe this makes me weird, but I always read it as Darling Husband. Maybe because I always saw DS and DD as Darling [name]Son[/name] and Daughter.

It might also be “da husband.”
