WDYT of these two names?
Would [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] be mistaken for [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] or thought of as a made-up spelling variation?
I like how [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] sounds but the spelling looks awkward. I’m looking for a way to honor my sister who passed away, [name_f]Emalie[/name_f] (pron [name_f]Emily[/name_f]). I was thinking maybe a as a middle name, but possibly as a first…
Today I’m crushing on [name_f]Brynn[/name_f]…[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]? [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Emalie[/name_f]?
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is the more international version of the name, so the spelling isn’t weird at all (in many languages this spelling is the only way to get the wanted pronunciation).
I really think it’s a sweet name to honor your sister and personally I love it more than [name_f]Brynn[/name_f].
I find [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] quite modern (trendy) while [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is very classic and would fit in better with your other kids’ names
I’ve been having this same debate in my head for a while now If you do advanced search and search titles for ‘[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]’ you will find a lot of topics on this.
I love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] and I say go for it. I just don’t like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] as much for some reason…
yep, I think it is but I don’t see it as a “trendy” name.
It still has a very classic feel to it, while [name_f]Brynn[/name_f], to me, looks like one of many -yn names (sorry).
I actually much prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. I don’t know why but I’ve never been keen on [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] but I adore [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I pronounce them differently, although I know not everyone does and they are separate names. I can imagine confusion between them, but people can always be corrected.
I can’t say that I’m a fan of [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] though, especially as a sister to an [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. It’s a boys name here in the UK and [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is very obviously girly. I think that if you used [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] as a first [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] would make the loveliest pair of sisters.
I pronounce them differently. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is eh-[name_f]MIL[/name_f]-ee-ah (or I suppose it could be em-ih-lee-ah like [name_f]Emily[/name_f]-ah) while [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is ah-MEE-lee-ah. So with the different pronunciations, I don’t think they’ll be mistaken for each other. That being said, I just don’t personally like it, but I see how you’re honoring your sister with it.
[name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is nice, but I don’t think [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_m]Grant[/name_m] and [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] sound good together. To go with [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m], I would do:
And just in case here’s some other [name_f]Emily[/name_f] like names – [name_f]Emma[/name_f] (which I think works really well as a first with your other kids), [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], Emiri (Maori form of [name_f]Emily[/name_f])
I love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. Yes [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is more popular but, at least in my accent, its pronounced differently.
I also think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is a beautiful way to honor your sister without using her name. You could also consider [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] (all the same letters rearranged into the french version of [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]).
If your worried about [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (which has a slightly difficult flow to me), [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] has a nice flow or going with [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] [name_f]Emalie[/name_f] would be a beautiful choice as well.
