Emmeline or Amabel or something else?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m],

We are expecting our first baby girl in a few months and are stumped on her name. Our favorites right now are [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Amabel[/name_f]. I also like [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. All three have drawbacks for us with multiple accepted pronunciations for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and what I anticipate will be constant confusion of the other two names with the more popular [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] (neither of which I like). What do you think? Which one do you prefer? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a suggestion for another name in a similar style? And what middle names would you recommend? The only family names that we might use in the middle are [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Arletta[/name_f] and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] (after our grandmothers), but we are not set on using a family name if the flow doesn’t feel right. Last name starts with H and is long and [name_m]German[/name_m]. Both big brothers’ names are biblical and start with E, but we are not trying to match them nor are we trying to use or to avoid another E name.

Thanks, everyone!

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]

I like all 3 names but don’t think your mns fit with [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] very well. So if you want to use them, I’d probably go with [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] based on that. If your last name is hard for a lot of people to pronounce, I’d use [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] out of these as the pronunciation is a little more intuitive than [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. You might also consider [name_f]Helena[/name_f] as a fn.

I adore [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] (also [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]). They are both gorgeous. I feel neutral about [name_f]Amabel[/name_f].
