So we are expecting a girl and we’ve been having a hard time deciding on a name for her. So far we’ve been able to dial it down to two names;
[name_f]Amara[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
What are your thoughts on both names? Which one do you prefer and why?
I like both names but prefer [name_f]Amara[/name_f]. I think I would prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] if it was spelled [name_f]Emiline[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmiline[/name_f]/[name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] etc. Not too keen on the [name_f]Emme[/name_f]-…!
Have you considered names that are a mix of both?
Hard choice because I think both names are pretty nice with a vintage feeling. I think it depends on which one sounds better with your last name, and the nicknames posibilities. For example, [name_f]Amy[/name_f] or [name_f]Mara[/name_f] for [name_f]Amara[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmie[/name_f], [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Millie[/name_f] for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
I much prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I find it to be a pretty name with some lovely nicknames.
I’m not a big fan of [name_f]Amara[/name_f]. It’s nice but not something that jumps out as wow to me personally…but at the end of the day, it’s really about what you and your partner like!
Oh I have never seen [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] being spelled like [name_f]Emmiline[/name_f]/[name_f]Emiline[/name_f] I was only aware of [name_f]Emmaline[/name_f]/[name_f]Emaline[/name_f] or [name_f]Emeline[/name_f] as variiations.
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a name that might be a mix of both either. Is there maybe a specific one you have in mind?
I really like [name_f]Amara[/name_f]. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] has just never really sung to me, whereas [name_f]Amara[/name_f] I think has a lot of charm and is slightly more unusual.
I also prefer the nickname options for [name_f]Amara[/name_f].
I feel neutral about [name_f]Amara[/name_f] and adore [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], so my vote goes to [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I also adore the nicknames; [name_f]Emme[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and [name_f]Millie[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Amara[/name_f] is pretty too but sounds a little harsh to my ear.
A few ideas are [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Emilie[/name_f], [name_f]Ameline[/name_f], Emara, Amiline. Not sure if you will like any of them but they are a combination of the two.
[name_f]Amara[/name_f] sounds harsh to me. I would choose [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] as it’s prettier.
Both names are lovely! I am not a nickname person as I prefer to choose a name I love and stick to it, so I would choose [name_f]Amara[/name_f] as I think [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] would eventually be shortened. That may depend on where you live though.

As for nicknames we would probably go with [name_f]Mara[/name_f] for [name_f]Amara[/name_f] and [name_f]Emmie[/name_f]/[name_f]Emme[/name_f] for [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
I quite like the name [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] too, I guess I’ve just never considered it to be a combination of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Amara[/name_f] but I can see how that works now so thank you!

I totally get where you’re coming from as I prefer sticking to a name too but I guess as someone who never really had a nickname I’d like to give her the possibility of choosing to be referred to with one if that’s what she prefers. I might be thinking way too ahead though.
