Emmett - M&M dilema

[name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is currently our top choice for a boy due in [name_f]July[/name_f]. Our daughter’s name is [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f]. Does this strike you as too similar for sibs, or is there enough difference that it could work?

It’s too similar and matchy for me. I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]! I don’t love or dislike [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f].

I personally think it is too close - such a shame though. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is a great name!

I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], but [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f] are definitely too close for siblings.

I think they are much much too similar.

Sorry i have to agree, it would be too close for me. I love [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] too. how about [name_u]Everett[/name_u] or [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]?

Thanks for your opinions…
What about [name_u]Everett[/name_u]? Still too close?

[name_u]Elliot[/name_u] was just used by my cousin. Ironically his older sib is named [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], so I guess the similiarity was okay for them!

Too close with matching first syllables. Sorry!

I have to agree with the others about [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] being to close to [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is fine if you don’t mind the two ‘E’ names. If you like the double ‘t’ at the end there is also…

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_m]Beckett[/name_m]
[name_u]Barrett[/name_u]
[name_m]Hewitt[/name_m]
[name_u]Abbott[/name_u]
[name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_m]Corbett[/name_m]
[name_m]Prescott[/name_m]
[name_m]Wyatt[/name_m]
[name_m]Garrett[/name_m]
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m]

They r too simular [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I have an [name_f]Emily[/name_f] and hate that I can’t use [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]!

I agree that [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] is too close to [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f], but [name_u]Everett[/name_u] would be fine.

Regretfully I have to agree that [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f] & [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] are too similar (reminds me of [name_m]Craig[/name_m] & [name_m]Greg[/name_m], & [name_f]Tammie[/name_f] & [name_f]Cammie[/name_f], from my high school) in sound…& I wouldn’t have used both [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] & [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] either. But that’s just me. I do like [name_u]Everett[/name_u] & think it goes well w/[name_f]Emilyn[/name_f], & I like the suggestions of [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m] & [name_m]Beckett[/name_m] if you want the double t ending. If you want a name beginning w/E, maybe…

[name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
[name_u]Evan[/name_u] (although that also is somewhat match-y in sound to [name_f]Emilyn[/name_f])
[name_m]Eamon[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
[name_m]Ethan[/name_m]

Regretting that we can’t use [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. Although it is still the name we both really love, I fear that having two [name_f]Em[/name_f]'s will be confusing and weird! Thank you for all the suggestions. We tried [name_u]Everett[/name_u] on for size for a few days, but it’s not a love. I had hubby liking [name_u]Elias[/name_u] for a while, until no one in our family could pronounce it right! I guess it’s time to switch gears… maybe I’ll start a new thread with our brainstorming ideas.
