Emrys or Omri? I love them both!!

Help! I love them both. Fairly equally. And I wouldn’t use one as first and the other as second.

[name_m]OMRI[/name_m]

or

[name_m]EMRYS[/name_m] (just did my homework and the true pronunciation is “em-riss” not “em-reece”)

???:stuck_out_tongue:

I love [name_m]Omri[/name_m]. It is unique, fun and strong.

I love [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]! I would probably only use it as a middle name, but I love the sound of it and also the connection to [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] and the whole Arthurian [name_u]Legend[/name_u]!

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] for it’s meaning(s) too!!! But it’d be a first name for sure. Our last name is [name_m]Griffin[/name_m], so A LOT of “harder” boy names don’t sound right. I have only really liked the softer names. This one is DH’s preference since he LOVES all things magical, but he has picked middle and of course baby gets his last name- so the ultimately it’s up to me.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Omri[/name_m] for it’s sound, like music to my ears! And the [name_f]Indian[/name_f] and the Cupboard connection is rad. But it’s biblical connection is what hangs me up as we are decidedly not religious (hubby actually rebelled against his religious upbringing)

HMM… Keep the opinions coming ladies.

[name_m]Emrys[/name_m] definitely. I love the connection to [name_m]Merlin[/name_m] and Arthurian legend, which makes it all the more magical and mystical, and I love the sound. I have it as a middle, but I like it as a first as well.

I adore [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], so very handsome.

I love [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]! [name_m]Both[/name_m] are nice, but I prefer [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] for some reason.

I like both but prefer [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]

They are both awesome! I am not a fan of [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] with [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] though. [name_f]My[/name_f] pick is [name_m]Omri[/name_m].

They are both beautiful and unique. With your last name, my favourite is [name_m]Emrys[/name_m].

Looks like the “winner” here so far is the “winner” in my house too!!! To the top of the list goes [name_m]EMRYS[/name_m]! (now let’s just hope it doesn’t serge in popularity in the next 2 months)

I like both names but I prefer [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]. [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] sounds vintage to me while [name_m]Omri[/name_m] has a more contemporary vibe (even though it’s a old Biblical name). If you plan on having more than one child, perhaps you should think about whether you have more affection for Celtic or Hebrew names.

FYI - [name_m]Omri[/name_m] is the name of a Canadian corporation that reviews and lists organic products for consumers.

I have always liked [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]. Hadn’t come across [name_m]Omri[/name_m] until your post, but like your husband, I’m kind of anti-religious, so avoid biblical connections… with the exception of [name_f]Tabitha[/name_f], which has so many other stronger associations for me. Maybe that’s the key - if you love a name enough and it conjours up other ideas first, then you can feel comfortable about using it. Good luck in either case

I prefer [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] but would only use it as a middle name. I find [name_m]Emry[/name_m] a lot nicer.
