--- endearing, everlasting edelweiss! šŸ•Šļø

How are you pronouncing it?

I say ā€œay-duhl-viceā€

[name_m]Just[/name_m] saying, my friend @Saracita00[name_f][/name_f] [name_f][/name_f] named her youngest [name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f], and she seriously considered [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f] during a couple of her pregnancies

Would it work as a first? Sure. I think it’s ā€œout thereā€ for a lot of people, and I think correcting the spelling would be a headache, but it’s not unusable. For me personally it would be a middle; I don’t have enough of a connection to the [name_f]Alpine[/name_f] countries or to [name_m]The[/name_m] Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] to put it up front. I don’t love that the last syllable sounds like ā€œviceā€ to [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers.

I love pp’s suggestions of [name_f]Elvy[/name_f], [name_m]Dell[/name_m], and [name_f]Della[/name_f] as nicknames! (Maybe because the sounds overlap with my daughter Deliverance’s name, whom we usually call [name_f]Livvy[/name_f] when we use a nn…)

[name_f]Iolanthe[/name_f] is gorgeous and would make such[name_f][/name_f] a good sister for [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f] :face_holding_back_tears::white_heart:[name_f][/name_f] I’m still loving [name_f]Elvy[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f] for this sweet girl, so I love hearing that they’re popular favorites for nickname ideas. Thank you so much for the response, [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. :dove:

  1. I do think she should be reserved for the middle spot unless you use a nickname like evie or edie. [name_m]Not[/name_m] everyone understands that the ā€˜W’ is pronounced as a ā€˜V’ sound, but I suppose that depends on where you live! [name_m]The[/name_m] more I say it the more I can see it working.
  2. [name_f][/name_f]
  3. I think it’s a pretty apparent connection but there’s nothing wrong with that! And it’ll be way more apparent to parents than children, so your daughter would have no problems with her peers, imo.
  4. [name_f][/name_f]
  5. [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f][name_f][/name_f] or [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]!! I think it works either way and I adore [name_f]Viola[/name_f].
  6. [name_f][/name_f]
  7. [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f] & [name_f]Melantha[/name_f] or Octavia/Octavian for a boy!
  8. [name_f][/name_f]
  9. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] :))

It’s such a special song, isn’t it? [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] are both so[name_f][/name_f] cute as nickname ideas for this sweet gal! I love[name_f][/name_f] your [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Edelweiss[/name_f]. Thank you so much! :rainbow:
