I am MOST curious about thoughts/reactions to [name]Enya[/name]. I love the singer btw, so that’s just a bonus:). I think it’s beautiful. Would the “in ya” teasing deter you?
With the others, what’s your favorite of them all? Please break them down if you want:).
Not big on [name]Enya[/name] (never thought about the ‘in ya’ thing until now though, but I dont care for the sound it makes) or [name]Maeve[/name] (too close to pave, slave, grave and other words) but I like Maevane as an alternative. I do really like [name]Neve[/name] (I dont know why this is ok to me when its semi-close to [name]Maeve[/name]) and [name]Fiona[/name] is ok too.
I actually really like [name]Enya[/name]!! The teasing factor wouldn’t deter me. Kids will find anything to tease other kids about, whether it be the name, the clothes, the hair, etc. So I don’t think that’s the only thing to look at. It’s easy to spell and pronounce, and that’s a big plus for me!
If you didn’t use [name]Enya[/name], but one of the other ones, I would use [name]Neve[/name]. Not a big fan of [name]Maeve[/name] or [name]Fiona[/name]. Not really sure why, though…
[name]Enya[/name] is actually a phonetic version of [name]Eithne[/name] so it’s made up to make it easier for people to pronounce. It’s pretty but strongly associated with the singer (whom I love as well but not enough to name a child after her). [name]Maeve[/name] is a great Irish name. I prefer [name]Niamh[/name] instead of [name]Neve[/name]. [name]Fiona[/name] is not my taste. So it’s between [name]Maeve[/name] and [name]Niamh[/name] for me. [name]Maeve[/name] would probably be the most usable if you live in the US.
I say “[name]Nev[/name]” as in never and [name]Neve[/name] [name]Campbell[/name] but I think your pronunciation is technically right. Maybe this is an either or name? IDK
I like [name]Enya[/name], I also like [name]Anya[/name]. [name]Maeve[/name] is my favorite! I wanted to name my daughter it, but the name was already used by a close family friend!
I love [name]Enya[/name]!!! I would not worry about the “in - ya” thing unless you were spelling it Inya. I love [name]Anya[/name] as well unless it is spelled Onya. I think [name]Fiona[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name] are very sweet names as well I am not a fan of [name]Neve[/name] though no matter which pronunciation
I love [name]Enya[/name], singer and name, but not enough to use on my own children. I do love it the most out of your other names. i’ve never understood the appeal of [name]Maeve[/name] or [name]Neve[/name], I just don’t like the sounds they make. So I like them in this order:
