I’m working on a list for a LO due in [name_f]October[/name_f]. Looking for some new ideas. Comments on the list as it stands at the moment would be awesome, too.
[name_m]Apollos[/name_m] ([name_m]New[/name_m] Testament choice, cool namesake, cool meaning)
[name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] (in our area this sounds like “rag” like a washcloth and “nar” as in “gnarled” - I have Norwegian heritage)
[name_u]Rigel[/name_u] (this is a star name and sounds like [name_m]Nigel[/name_m] - it’s the seventh brightest star and this is our seventh baby, counting the one we lost)
[name_m]Rainier[/name_m] (doesn’t have any particular meaning/significance to us, it just sounds nice)
[name_m]Caruso[/name_m] (also not big on meaning, though the musical connection is at least something)
[name_m]Mordecai[/name_m] (thanks @essa. Hubby likes this one a lot)
We’re not set on a Greek name (or an R name or A name for that matter) it just so happens that it’s what we have in consideration, and we haven’t used Greek, R, or A for any other kids.
We would consider a one-syllable name, but so far we haven’t come up with anything that seems right. Already eliminated [name_m]Colm[/name_m], [name_m]Pierce[/name_m], [name_u]Storm[/name_u], [name_m]Dax[/name_m], [name_u]Mal[/name_u] (and [name_u]Leaf[/name_u] and [name_m]Heath[/name_m] are too close to our daughter’s name). Hubby loves [name_u]Rory[/name_u] but only as a nn; we considered [name_m]Roderick[/name_m] as a full name for it but we don’t love it, and Hubby suggested [name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] but I don’t see the point because [name_m]Ragnar[/name_m] doesn’t need shortening. He likes [name_m]Madoc[/name_m] but I don’t; I like [name_m]Caradoc[/name_m] but he doesn’t. I’m not sure how that even works but there you have it.
The other children are C a s p i a n, Z e p h a n, E v e, P e r e g r i n e (P i p p i n), and D u l c i n e a (D a i s y).
Any ideas or input for this “round” of the boy name list? Thanks a lot!
