[name_f]Esme[/name_f]! It’s so beautiful and would totally be top of my list if it wasn’t so popular in the UK. It’s such a great name for a [name_f]May[/name_f] baby too, it feels so happy and spring-like to me.
It’s sometimes spelt [name_f]Esmee[/name_f]/[name_f]Esmae[/name_f] in the UK if you think that would lessen pronunciation difficulties at all (there’s [name_f]Ismay[/name_f], too).

Kestrel is just a bird to me so strikes me as entirely hippy. It’s a pretty sound and lovely bird, but it doesn’t compare to [name_f]Esme[/name_f] in my opinion.

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] is gorgeous! Kestrel is a little weird to me…first I think of threstrals from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] and then minstrels. Haha.

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] is my preference by a landslide. This name is sweet, soft and magical. I’ve always found Kestrel better suited for a boy.

I vote for [name_f]Esme[/name_f]. It’s just so soft, romantic and sweet without being overused. And I really like the [name_m]Salinger[/name_m] connection, too.
Kestrel may be fine but nothing in comparison to [name_f]Esme[/name_f].

I voted for Kestrel. I like [name_f]Esme[/name_f] but I think that Kestrel has a certain pernash. I also live the nicknames Kes and [name_f]Kessie[/name_f].

Have to say that I much prefer Kestrel, despite popular opinion.

[name_f]Esme[/name_f] makes me think of eczema and Ysma (the villain from Emperor’s [name_m]New[/name_m] Groove) and the mom from Twilight (from whence sprang Renesme). I just find it wholly unattractive.

Kestrel is interesting and pretty and different and I adore the nn Kes

Kestrel I just can’t imagine on a person. Also, it reminds me of thestrals (or whatever they are) from [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. The only sound I like from Kestrel is the el ending.

I love both of these so much! You can’t really go wrong, in my opinion. I voted for Kestrel just b.c it seems like the less popular choice.

We have family middle name picked out already, and I am not a fan of four names, so need to choose between the two. I love them both, for very different reasons though, so it is hard to choose!

I voted for [name_f]Esme[/name_f] as I find Kestrel to be a little masculine.
