Esther, too old fa

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know what they say that you hate a name until you see it on a real person? Well, that’s happened to me. I hated the name [name_f]Esther[/name_f] with passion in the beginning until I saw [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_m]Earl[/name_m], the person that inspired [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u] to write TFIOS. When I read her story I just couldnt help but started to fall in love with the name [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. It’s totally out of my style as you can see from my signature but I just love it. I think it’s delicate, beautiful & age well. I just love the nicknames [name_f]Essie[/name_f] too.

So what do you think of the name [name_f]Esther[/name_f]?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s too old fashioned or an adorable name for a little girl?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any middles name suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any kind of help!

[name_f]Edit[/name_f] : Iam so sorry for the title. The original title sayed [name_f]Esther[/name_f], too old fashioned? I dont know what happened…

I like [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and I cannot see any granny in it [I don’t know any old people with it though]. It has the adorable nn Essi and a good Biblical connection.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] would be my perfect combo for this.

Thanks both of you for your replys ! I really appreciate it

whirligig : I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is stunning ! Thanks for the suugestion

Any other opinion ?

[name_f]Esther[/name_f] is a no go in my opinion

I never used to like [name_f]Esther[/name_f] myself, finding it extremely dated and just not being able to imagine it on a young person - that was until I discovered [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_m]Anderson[/name_m], an Aussie actress/model on TV some years ago. Suddenly, the name seemed youthful. I too like [name_f]Essie[/name_f] - I actually heard the nickname used on a young person in honor of their grandmother [name_f]Esther[/name_f] on television last night and thought it worked for the young, somewhat feisty and confident type character really well.

Also, a couple of years ago I looked after an adorable little baby girl names [name_f]Easter[/name_f], which her parents pronounced [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. It suited her, and did not seem too old-fashioned at all.

I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f]'s a lovely name.

I love [name_f]Esther[/name_f]! It’s not too old-fashioned and I can really imagine it on a little girl as well as a grown woman. I also read [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_m]Earl[/name_m]'s story (so sad!) and that was one of the factors which made me love it so much. [name_f]My[/name_f] combo is [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f].

Crushing on [name_f]Esther[/name_f] at the moment! ‘[name_f]Star[/name_f]’ is a cute and beautiful meaning
As for a nickname I dig Est and [name_f]Essie[/name_f] would adorable whilst she’s young

[name_u]Love[/name_u] @cheshirekat combo of [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]

I really like [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and, like a PP said, the soft sound is beautiful. I like [name_f]Hester[/name_f] too for a stronger variation and [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a nickname.

I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is beautiful and not too old fashioned at all. I would love to meet a young [name_f]Esther[/name_f].

I really like it. I think it’s adorable. As for middle name, [name_f]Esther[/name_f] can be paired with anything, really. [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (my favourite) sounds great, imo, so does [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_m]Wolf[/name_m], [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] or [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] (too [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_u]Green[/name_u]? :p).

I have always loved [name_f]Esther[/name_f], nn [name_f]Essie[/name_f], because of [name_f]Esther[/name_f] in the Bible, and also because of a children’s book series I grew up reading, called “[name_u]Seven[/name_u] [name_m]Little[/name_m] Australians”.
I always thought I would have a daughter named [name_f]Esther[/name_f], but I grew a little tired of it- I think partly because it sounds a bit lispy with my married name!
I’m still really fond of the name [name_f]Esther[/name_f] though, and would love to meet a baby [name_f]Esther[/name_f]!

I adore [name_f]Esther[/name_f]! I love the nickname [name_f]Essie[/name_f] and I used to have [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f] on my list.

[name_f]Esther[/name_f]'s not too old fashioned. Besides, I usually like old fashioned. I associate [name_f]Esther[/name_f] mostly with [name_f]Esther[/name_f] The Wonder Pig (.com) but she’s funny, lovely, pinky piggy girl  Back to humans, I think [name_f]Esther[/name_f] ages well, so I can imagine little sweet [name_f]Esther[/name_f] as well as crazy teenage [name_f]Esther[/name_f] and professional adult [name_f]Esther[/name_f] to granny [name_f]Esther[/name_f]. I like this name a lot, and find the piggy connection something to be proud of rather than embarrassed.

pp’s idea of [name_f]Tess[/name_f] as a nickname is brilliant! I never would have thought of that but it’s my new favorite way to get to [name_f]Tess[/name_f]!

I don’t really like [name_f]Esther[/name_f] even though it’s the kind of name I usually like. I think it’s because I had the opposite experience that you had - I liked the name until I met an awful girl called [name_f]Ester[/name_f]. But now that I’m grown it seems I should be able to get past that!!
