Etana pronunciation?

I just found this name and I love it! It has such a lovely meaning, and I really like the sound. I’m not sure that I’m pronouncing it correctly though. I am saying it eh-TAHN-ah. Does anyone know if that’s correct? Is that how you would intuitively pronounce it? Thank you so much!

I would say Et-AHN-a, just like you say it. I think it’s pretty obvious to say, and it sounds like a great name!

I thought ee-[name_m]TAH[/name_m]-na, but I can definitely see the eh-[name_m]TAH[/name_m]-na prn. People would accept it either way, and I kinda like it both ways.

I would pronounce it just like you.

[name_f]Etana[/name_f] seems to have a couple of origins. [name_f]Etana[/name_f] was the name of an ancient Sumerian [name_m]King[/name_m] so although it sounds feminine, it began as a male name. It’s a female version of the Hebrew/Israeli name of [name_m]Etan[/name_m]/[name_m]Eitan[/name_m] or [name_m]Ethan[/name_m]. It’s also a Swahili name that means “strong”. A true multi-cultural choice. I think it’s pretty and I would pronounce it as “eh-[name_m]TAH[/name_m]-nah”.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct was to say Ee-Tawn-Uh but Eh-Tawn-Uh makes total sense too.
