I love honour names and would love to find an honour name for my mama. Her name is [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u].
I don’t want to use [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] as it gets shortened to [name_u]Bernie[/name_u], which even my mum doesn’t like, haha. But I thought an ‘ette’ name could be a beautiful and subtle way to honour her! I have thought of:
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] (LOVE this name, but not the connection to [name_u]Swan[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u] - the character is such a damsel in distress. And hate the focus on her physical beauty!)

[name_f]Nadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f] (same problem with [name_f]Odette[/name_f] for me)
Could also look at [name_u]Maria[/name_u] honour names? [name_u]Maria[/name_u] itself is too mid century for me.
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] and [name_f]Nadette[/name_f] would be great honors for your mother. Both are so unusual and classy sounding. You could also think about [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] / [name_f]Etty[/name_f], [name_f]Claudette[/name_f], [name_f]Laurette[/name_f], [name_f]Lisette[/name_f], [name_f]Annette[/name_f], [name_f]Jeannette[/name_f], [name_f]Betty[/name_f], [name_f]Betsy[/name_f], if you want to focus on the “Ette” portion in particular. If you want to consider how you could use her middle name - [name_u]Maria[/name_u] - as an honor you could go for [name_u]Marie[/name_u], [name_f]Marien[/name_f] / [name_u]Marian[/name_u], [name_f]Mariel[/name_f], Marinela, [name_f]Maris[/name_f], [name_f]Mara[/name_f], [name_f]Marilena[/name_f], [name_f]Maristela[/name_f], [name_f]Mariana[/name_f], [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_f]Marta[/name_f], or [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] (combining the parts of [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] and Maria)!
I think you could use [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] without it getting shortened to [name_u]Bernie[/name_u] if you stick with a nickname for instance [name_u]Berry[/name_u] or [name_f]Bee[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Odette[/name_f]. One of my favorite -ette names right now is [name_f]Georgette[/name_f]! How cute?? You could use [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] or even [name_f]Etta[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_f]Nanette[/name_f] and [name_f]Henriette[/name_f] are two others that come to mind.

Etiennette or Etienna (for a long form of Ette which keeps the Ette front and centre)

Okay crazy idea, and I’m not sure if you’ll like the Ladybug connection (children’s tv show) but hear me out. What about Marionette! It’s a beautiful name that combines both the -ette ending you wanted and similar to [name_u]Maria[/name_u]!
Since I did ballet, I have always loved the name [name_f]Odette[/name_f], but reading your thoughts it might not be the best name for your daughter. However if you feel comfortable using it or [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] I love the names.
[name_f]Etta[/name_f] is so sweet, however I feel it might work better as a nickname for an -ette name.
[name_f]Nadette[/name_f] is possibly my favorite on your list! So sweet, and it feels like a clever spin on the name [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], which I have always loved. The “Etta” nickname could be really cute here.

For [name_u]Maria[/name_u], I like [name_u]Maria[/name_u] just as it is but [name_u]Marie[/name_u] and [name_f]Mila[/name_f] are also good alternatives!
