I was recently looking at names that have the Eu begining/sound. I saw [name]Euphemia[/name]. I like it, but I want to know just how OUT there it is. It’s the name of an early [name]Christian[/name] martyr (I’m pretty sure she’s a saint, I don’t know) so it has a good history, and it has the cute name [name]Fifi[/name]. I’m just not sure. What do you think? Good? Bad? [name]Just[/name] too wierd?
I like unusual names. But I’m going to be honest with you, I think this one is too much to stick a kid with. The problem it is unusual AND long AND has old lady feel to it (think [name]Enola[/name]). It’s just too much for a kid to handle. Can do as a middle name though!
I like old musty names, and I love Eu sounds, but I think [name]Euphemia[/name] is a bit out there. I have to stop myself from hearing “Euphemism” when I read it. I do like the nn [name]Effie[/name], but I don’t know that that redeems it for me.
I agree that it would be awesome in the middle spot, too FUME Y in first spot.
Consider [name]Eulalia[/name]- sounds very pretty and has nn [name]Laily[/name],[name]Lea[/name]
I know a [name]Euphemia[/name] in her 50s, goes by [name]Phemie[/name] ([name]Fee[/name]-mee). I like it and don’t think it’s too much at all as long as you like it.
I’m going to have to disagree with everyone else and say that I do not think it’s too much at all! I love it. I heard this name when I bought the movie [name]True[/name] Women. One of the main characters is named [name]Euphemia[/name]. And I prefer her nickname as well, [name]Phemie[/name].
