It’s kind of sweet and sparky

I prefer [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f] myself, but I think [name_f]Euphrasie[/name_f] is interesting and different. A historical [name_u]French[/name_u] name. How do you intend to pronounce it? I do think many [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers would find the [name_u]French[/name_u] pronunciation challenging.

I keep hearing “you crazy?”

It reminds me of euthanasia, sorry.

I think it’s you-fra-see.

In [name_u]French[/name_u] it’s more like oo-fra-zee. It’s a bit hard to explain the exact sound. There is a recording here: Euphrasie pronunciation: How to pronounce Euphrasie in French

I really like it!

Fun fact: In [name_m]Victor[/name_m] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m]'s [name_u]Les[/name_u] Mis, [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] was actually named [name_f]Euphrasie[/name_f]–Fantine, her mother, simply called her Cosette.

I think Euphrasie might work better as a middle if you’re worried about the pronunciation. It could always be a name you specifically call your child.

Not something I’d use myself, but I can see the appeal. I think it’s a sweet name. [name_f]My[/name_f] only association with this name is [name_f]Cosette[/name_f] from [name_u]Les[/name_u] Mis, which I adore.

I think it’s quite cute, very extravagent and mystical. I wouldn’t use it myself but would be fascinated to meet one. Cool fun fact a poster made before about Les Mis, I didn’t know that! :open_mouth:

I actually kind of live it. You get cute nicknames like feef and maisie when they’re a baby, and ray/sia/ase when theyre older. Or they could just go by they’re full name! Maybe give them a more common middle name if they ever want to go by that instead. It reminds me of the bible. I like it

Sounds like Euphrates. [name_m]Tigris[/name_m] & Euphrates [name_u]Rivers[/name_u].

It’s sweet, but I’m not sure I love it? There’s just something that feels a bit off to me and I can’t quite put my finger on what it is. It does have a very pretty sound though!

It’s nice and whimsical.

I know one, she goes by her full name. I am not a massive fan of how it sounds. I much prefer [name_f]Eulalie[/name_f].
