Evalie???

I’ve recently discovered this name and quickly fell in love with it. It’s pronounced eh-va-lee.
What do you guys think of Evalie?

I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and our first daughter will definitely have that name. I would love to give a second girl the name Evalie but my concern is that their names would be too similar in sound? Opinions??

Evalie is adorable! I really like it. It is such a sweet name, and has this lively, happy feel to it. However, I definitely think [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and Evalie are too similar to be sister names. It’s a gorgeous name!

Yeah same :).

I like Evalie. I think it’s a much nicer and prettier choice than [name_u]Emery[/name_u].

I pronounce Evalie and [name_u]Everly[/name_u] the same, and I (obviously) prefer that spelling. Evalie looks made up in my opinion, but I like the sound of it.

I like Evalie (but I’d go for [name_u]Everly[/name_u] too). I wouldn’t use it after [name_u]Emery[/name_u] unless you want that same-same feel.

^ I agree with @bretak

Evalie is so cute! I’ve never heard it before and wow, love it. I’ve always liked [name_f]Evy[/name_f] as a nickname, but didn’t care too much for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].

I know a baby Evalie! I actually thought her parents came up with this name themselves because I’d never encountered it before. It’s very pretty, but I do admit, I had to remind myself whether it was “Ee-va-lie” or “Eh-va-lee” for a bit before it sunk in.

I definitely pronounce Evalie different than [name_u]Everly[/name_u] (Ev-ah-lee, versus Ev-err-le), and I also prefer it to [name_u]Everly[/name_u], myself.

My concern with [name_u]Emery[/name_u] and Evalie would by that people might mispronounce-by-association, with Ev-lie and [name_f]Em[/name_f]-ry, or Ev-a-lie and [name_f]Em[/name_f]-a-ry.

I do think they are too similar for sisters. I prefer the sound of Evalie to [name_u]Emery[/name_u], but I do wish Evalie looked less made up. It sounds very cute though.

Evalie is really pretty. It is far, far nicer than [name_u]Emery[/name_u].

Evalie sounds like someone saying “[name_u]Everly[/name_u]” with an accent [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. It’s cute but seems a bit made up.
[name_u]Emery[/name_u] and Evalie definitely sound too close to be sisters as well.

I had my baby girl last month and named her Evalie. I don’t understand why people think the spelling sounds made up, when there’s names like mine (KatIE) and AlexIE, CassIE, etc. I understand people being confused about pronunciation as IE can make both the I and EE sounds. But I’ve only had two people ask me about how to pronounce it- everyone just assumes it’s Ev-Ah-Lee because [name_u]Everly[/name_u] is not unusual. I just prefer the AH sound over the ER sound. It’s much prettier in my opinion and gives the option of nicknames later being either [name_f]Eva[/name_f] or [name_f]Evy[/name_f]. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m not keen personally, there seems to be a trend of vowely names of this sort of cadence / sound pattern which makes it feel a bit nothingy / made up to me. (Elodie, Ivalie etc). I can see the prettiness and appeal though.
