Evaline or Eveline?

I found this name in my family history and I absolutely love it, it’s definitely the name I’m going with. I just don’t know how I should spell it. It will be pronounced eh-vuh-line regardless of how it’s spelled. I feel like [name_f]Evaline[/name_f] would give people the best idea of how to pronounce it, but [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] looks better. However, I can easily see people thinking [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] would be pronounced like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], which is not what I’m going for. Thoughts?

What a pretty name! I would guess [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] was pronounced as you prefer, because I would reason that might be why it wasn’t spelled “[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].” I imagine you will occasionally have to make some corrections either way, but as long as your daughter is prepared with a quick polite way to clarify when necessary, it shouldn’t be much of a problem.

I would assume that [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] is [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].

I think the “e” in the middle of [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] makes it more melodic, while the “a” in [name_f]Evaline[/name_f] seems to chop the name in half. I’d pick [name_f]Eveline[/name_f].
