These are four of the names on our list. We like them, but aren’t sure if they are right for us. We would really appreciate your opinions on these names before we throw them off our list.
[name]Evander[/name] - does it sound alright with the siblings names (see sig)? Is it “out there”?
[name]Theodore[/name] - I’m afraid that it sounds like an old guy in a teddy costume or something
[name]Simon[/name] - DH says it sounds a bit geeky?
[name]Lucas[/name] - DH thinks people might consider this name to be preppy?
I think [name]Evander[/name] and [name]Edward[/name] as too close to consider and [name]Lucas[/name], while not preppy, doesn’t feel right to me. [name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Simon[/name] however, feel a perfect match with the older siblings!
[name]Evander[/name]- My opinion is that this is the only name that doesn’t quite fit in with the rest of your children (definitely find it usable, one of my favorite names!).
[name]Theodore[/name]- For me, it sounds like an adorable young boy- I think of the littlest Chipmunk from [name]Alvin[/name] and the Chipmunks (I don’t know if that would be a good association for you, but it makes the name more real for me).
[name]Simon[/name]- I can see how [name]Simon[/name] may sound a little geeky but I find it also has the same understated fresh-sounding yet historical coolness of [name]Dexter[/name] (if you like this name). My second least-favorite next to [name]Evander[/name] though.
[name]Lucas[/name]- [name]Don[/name]'t find it too preppy; the nickname [name]Luke[/name] saves it for me. I think [name]Lucas[/name] or [name]Theodore[/name] would fit best with your other kids.
[name]Evander[/name] - I don’t think it’s “out there”. I personally though wouldn’t want another -er ending. I would feel it’s a little close to [name]Oliver[/name] in ending sound. I’ve just known sibsets with similar endings and somehow it doesn’t work in people’s heads and they’re called by the other’s name a lot even though they look nothing alike and their names aren’t that similar beyond the ending. But that’s me. I think it could work if you loved it enough.
[name]Theodore[/name] - I grew up with a [name]Theodore[/name] nn [name]Teddy[/name] in my class (I’m 26) and its never felt old to me. It seems to be on a comeback here int eh US as well. I’m seeing it on more and more lists. I like it because it’s an underused classic and it has several nickname possibilities. I actually think it would be refreshing without being too odd.
[name]Simon[/name] - I love [name]Simon[/name]. I think the geeky impression might come from the Chipmunks actually, lol. However, I love the name. I’ve known a couple Simons and they haven’t been geeky. I actually find it quite handsome and fresh feeling. I think it would work really well in your sibset.
[name]Lucas[/name] - I don’t get the preppy impression. Are you in [name]England[/name] by any chance? Here I’d say [name]Edward[/name] sounds more preppy than [name]Lucas[/name] (I’m in NYC), and I know a lot of [name]Luke[/name]'s from all different backgrounds (full names are usually [name]Lucas[/name]). It’s a decent name but I know so many that it doesn’t really have the same spark for me.
I like all the names! My favorite is [name]Evander[/name], but I’m. Bit biased because my sons name is [name]Evan[/name]. but, we did almost name him [name]Theodore[/name], so that is a close second for me. I think [name]Theodore[/name] (I hunk the nickname [name]Theo[/name] is better than [name]Teddy[/name]) and [name]Simon[/name] fit best with your sibset! I also really like the pp suggestions of [name]Everett[/name]!
[name]Evander[/name] - Sounds too similar to [name]Oliver[/name].
[name]Theodore[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it! The nickname [name]Theo[/name] is perfect!
[name]Simon[/name] - Not a fan of this one. Maybe it just reminds me of [name]Simon[/name] Cowell, but for whatever reason I’ve never liked it.
[name]Lucas[/name] - This one I like. It doesn’t quite fit with the style of your other kids’ names, but it’s still a nice name and it’s not necessarily preppy. I think your [name]Lucas[/name] will make his name whatever style he turns out to be.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Simon[/name] and [name]Theodore[/name] separately but together you have two of the three chipmunks. [name]Theodore[/name] iis my fav from your list. Not sure about the others fitting in with your other kids; names. What about
[name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Graham[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Felix[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] and [name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Evander[/name] - Definitely cool, but I agree with the person who posted first that it’s a little too close to [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] - This is one of my [name]FAVORITE[/name] names. So I’m a little biased, but I think it’s great.
[name]Simon[/name] - It does have a little bit of a geeky feel to it, but if your son doesn’t grow up geeky, then no one will really think so once they meet him.
[name]Lucas[/name] - [name]Lucas[/name] is one of the least preppy names I can think of. [name]IMO[/name] it has a dark, broody, almost mysterious feel. It’s not a perfect match to your other kid’s names, but it wouldn’t be like “OMG what? Where did that come from?”
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Simon[/name]! I don’t think it’s geeky at all. When I think of [name]Simon[/name], I think of the light up game from the 90’s. When he (your child) plays [name]Simon[/name] Says in his preschool class, he will feel like a rock star!
We still have [name]Lucas[/name] on our list, but decided not to use the others. I agree that [name]Evander[/name] is a little close to [name]Edward[/name], and it doesn’t exactly match the siblings names. And I love [name]Theodore[/name], and especially the nickname [name]Theo[/name], but I can’t get the picture of an old guy out of my head. [name]Simon[/name] is a nice, solid name, but it wasn’t one our favorites and we have better options.
