[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!
I think a lot of you saw on my previous post about [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a nickname. I love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] but it’s quite mismatched with my other favourites.
[name_f]My[/name_f] no. 1 name for a boy at the moment is [name_m]Kevin[/name_m], and I don’t see that changing. However I feel [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] are really mismatched, despite [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] not being. I like [name_f]Eva[/name_f] but fear it’s a bit unfinished, and don’t like [name_f]Eve[/name_f] because of what she did in the Bible.
Are [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] really that mismatched?
Especially if the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is used.
Thank you!

They are kind of mismatched but it is not too bad for me. With Evangeline I would prefer the original Irish spelling of Kevin though. Eva and Kevin are nice as well. Kevin is NMS but still better than many creativeigh names in my opinion.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] do feel pretty mismatched, if I’m being honest. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] gives off a simultaneously old-time, elegant, slightly gothic and ethereal vibe while at the same time being quite modern and sophisticated. [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] sits in between those two vibes as a down-to-earth, mid-century [name_f]Americana[/name_f] “uncle” kind of name. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is long and frilly while [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] is to the point. I don’t think they’re unusable together, especially as [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] are closer, and I think matching sibsets are slightly overrated (my siblings and I’s names are all over the place).

I honestly like eclectic set but… yea they’re super mismatched. [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] is very middle aged man (sorry but I literally can’t think of another way to describe what I get from Kevin) and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is light and ethereal and frilly. To take from [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_f]Angela[/name_f] or [name_u]Angie[/name_u] would best match [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] to me. [name_f]Evie[/name_f] isn’t too bad but still feels off next to him
I don’t think they are mismatched
honestly, i like them together! evangeline is sweet and sophisticated, and kevin is more middle-aged antiquated… but i still like them.
I don’t think they’re the same style but I also don’t think it matters
If it were [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] paired with something really unusual then I might find it odd, but I don’t think the style/vibe difference matters that much here. Use the names you love!

They seem very mismatched to me because of style. [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] seems to be more of a meme name than anything these days in the US, but it could be different elsewhere. The vibes I get from it in real life are basic middle aged man, whereas [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] gives me vintage southern vibes.
I do think the V in both ties them together nicely though ![ ](https://forum.nameberry.com/images/emoji/apple/slight_smile.png?v=12)

They are mismatched but I’ve met plenty of mismatched siblings so it’s okay
I guess one way to look at it is that while they’re siblings and while a perfect, cohesive sibset is appealing, they’re also two separate people who will go their own ways in life ![:person_shrugging: :person_shrugging:](https://forum.nameberry.com/images/emoji/apple/person_shrugging.png?v=12)

The problem is [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] being rarer and older / classic (I would put 40-60s American and [name_u]French[/name_u] before the 1960s) and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] being very modern (at least here in Europe/Italy) and more common
I am not in the Anglosphere so take my opinion carefully
[name_m]Kevin[/name_m] feels dated and common, and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] feels fresher and unique. However… they’ve both got that strong V! They don’t go together to me, but I don’t think it’s a big deal. ![:woman_shrugging:t2: :woman_shrugging:t2:](https://forum.nameberry.com/images/emoji/apple/woman_shrugging/2.png?v=12)
I don’t really think style is a problem. [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is so frilly and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] is so basic by comparison. [name_f]Angela[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] totally work together. Anyway its fine especially since boys and girls don’t really need to match as much in my opinion.
They don’t feel like the most natural set but they don’t feel mismatched. [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] feels a bit 80s/90s but [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] feels timeless and mature enough to work with it - also, lots of people chose different styles for boys and girls.
They are different, but I don’t think it’s a problem at all. ![ ](https://forum.nameberry.com/images/emoji/apple/blush.png?v=12)
I don’t think they are extremely mismatched, they are stylistically different but it’s not that bad
I do think they’re somewhat mismatched but it’s definitely a usable pair of names for siblings. Like you said, [name_f]Evie[/name_f] & [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] feel more cohesive. I think it’s fairly common for girls to have longer names than their brothers, so it doesn’t seem odd to me to use [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] & [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] together.

To me [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] are incredibly mismatched. I would say [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] are also incredibly mismatched. But if those are the names you want to name your children why care about any one else?
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] feels very modern, [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] is very dated and then [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is an old classic come back into fashion.
I also struggle because [name_m]Kevin[/name_m] has been caricatured in my head as the grumpy teenager of the kind of 80s/90s by the bbc. Whilst also being a middle aged man to me now
Whereas [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is cute and sweet and on trend and [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] feels elegant and classic
