It’s not for me but I think it’s very pretty for other people, but it does have quite heavy religious overtones to me. For that reason I think I prefer as a middle. I actually prefer Evangelie I think, the -leen ending on some names reminds me of a chemical product like gasoline or Vaseline. But it’s objectively a very pretty name.
I adore [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. It’s a gp though because it does bring heavy religious imagery to people around me
(a Jewish baby named [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] might take some getting used to!) However for me I just love it because it sounds musical, celestial, and has so much nickname potential.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is pretty, bright, and sparkly, with a sweet meaning. It does feel quite angelic - fresco paintings, shades of pink, blue, gold and white.
It does feel a little religious - as in evangelist or evangelicism - and while the [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] ‘Eva’ I knew wasn’t religious, I think you’d need to be prepared that people might make those assumptions or associations and might ask about it. If that doesn’t bother you, I think it’s fine.
I love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] I think it’s a lovely name that’s familiar but not used all that often. I knew an [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] who went by [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. There’s lots of great nicknames you could use for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
It has slight religious associations but I don’t think anyone would assume an [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is religious. Perhaps that is location dependent though.
Very pretty. It has a religious feel and I love the name as a first or middle name .
[name_f]My[/name_f] first association is [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] from the [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the frog because I love [name_f]Disney[/name_f] movies .
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is really nice, especially as a middle name. I associate it most with the [name_m]Longfellow[/name_m] poem, so it feels quite literary and romantic to me. It’s not particularly religious sounding, but I know that it has been used by others for the religious connection. I would expect it from a family who has positive or neutral thoughts about its [name_m]Christian[/name_m] connections, but not necessarily devoutly religious in any way.
I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a pretty name. Religious connections do come to mind at first, but it doesn’t have too many connotations. I knew a [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and don’t think she was religious. overall it’s a really pretty name!
I adore the name [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], it’s one of my all time favourites! I love the nicknames: [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and even [name_f]Angel[/name_f]. I first heard the name [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] while watching [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] McPhee as a child and have loved it ever since. It does have slight religious associations but I agree that not everyone would simply assume an [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is religious because of her name. The meaning is also sweet and I think the name evokes a stunning image, sounding whimsical, elegant, sparkly and angelic. I hope one day if I have a daughter, her name will be [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].
She’s glamourous and glorious, while being cozy and sweet. The nickname game for her is so versatile - you could have a cute little [name_f]Evie[/name_f], a cool [name_m]Vannie[/name_m] or a sparkly [name_f]Angel[/name_f] - and so many more!
The name does strike me as religious, but I wouldn’t be surprised if her or her parents weren’t.
I like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] it’s really grown on me in the last few months. I know a couple of Evangelines who go by either [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
Growing up it felt dated to me, quite victorian, slightly frilly, very feminine, but I think it’s very on trend right now with all the other [name_f]Eve[/name_f] names.
I love the nickname possibilities [name_f]Evie[/name_f], Ev, [name_f]Ever[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Evanna[/name_f], Gelly, [name_f]Angel[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_f]Elina[/name_f], [name_f]Ginnie[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], Evely, [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Angie[/name_f], [name_f]Angelie[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] etc.
As a [name_m]Christian[/name_m] I love the religious associations it has, but it’s a name that I think can work outside of that context.
I didn’t even think of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as religious, I just think of The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the Frog. It’s actually why I love the name because Ma [name_f]Belle[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is such a lovely song. But I am also a certified [name_f]Disney[/name_f] Adult so your mileage may vary
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] imagery-wise is ballerina, delicate lace, stars (again [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the Frog), and blush pink
Some middle options, i’d probably go for a shorter middle since [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is 10 letters and it’s seems like a lot to give a 6+ letter middle
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (is also the name of an actress but it flows well)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Inez[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is a very gorgeous name. [name_f]Imagery[/name_f] the name is giving is astronomy (Princess and the Frog), watching the stars on the grass, swimming during midnight, the colors periwinkle blue and white, to me.
I prefer [name_f]Evangelina[/name_f] over [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] however (expecting in [name_f]April[/name_f] and we’re naming our daughter Evangelina), nn’s for me are [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f], maybe even [name_f]Lina[/name_f] (?) …
Possible combos for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] are…
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Ruelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Amilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alexis[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Astraea[/name_f] (Astraea meaning “star” or “starry night”, perfect if you’re a [name_f]Disney[/name_f] lover!)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Noelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] (love this combination, but it doesn’t suit everyone)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Nichole[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Rae[/name_f] (Evie [name_f]Rae[/name_f] is adorable!)
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Bree[/name_f] (like it, but not sold on it).
I think you could reclaim [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as a Jewish name, since its meaning, “bearer of good news,” is reminiscent of some Old Testament texts (e.g. [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] 52:7)
I have Jewish heritage and we gave our baby daughter [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] as a middle.
I know one other couple who named their baby [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (Evy for short) and they are not religious at all!
Our daughter is Evange.line F.ay! She goes by [name_f]Evie[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] F.ay most of the time. “Jelly Bean” is also a cute nn.
We are religious Christians and chose the name in part for the [name_m]Christian[/name_m] associations. I do think it would be ok if non-religious too though.
