Evaristus

hi berries, wanted your opinion on the name evaristus? is it wearable for a boy’s middle name?it is actually a family name and we’d like to use it. Thank you

Evaristus is a name I’ve never heard of before! It does have an appealing sound, and [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] climbing so rapidly in popularity should make it feel more usable, but for some reason it feels very heavy to me. I think it would be perfect as a middle name! It’s not awful as a first name, but it feels like the sort of name that might be hard to pull of. As a middle name, it’s stately and exotic with a cool family connection. Pretty much perfect.

And now that I’ve written all of that, I see that you were asking about it as a middle name to begin with. I must have skipped over the word “middle” the first time I read your post. Yes, I definitely think it works as a middle name!

It’s definitely an extraordinary name and I would not use it as a first name but as a middle name it is nice, especially if it is a family name.

Cool name! Yes it’ll be a great middle name.

Evaristus would be awesome in the middle! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you know its origin and/or history? I’ve never heard it before either.

Evaristus is latin and means well pleasing. it is a saint name and also the name of an early pope. my family are catholic and my great grandfather and great great grandfather had them as middles. so i thought I would use it as a middle.

It reminds me very much of Pope Evaristus. I do believe Evariste is the [name_m]French[/name_m] form, from which [name_u]Everest[/name_u] is derived; but I may be wrong. In any event it’s a good name, if maybe a bit overbearing at first. It could be really nice in the middle spot with a short masculine first, like [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_m]Luke[/name_m] : )
