Evelyn or Victoria

I do think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is too close to [name_f]Eveline[/name_f]. I understand your repercussions on [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. How about
[name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] [name_f]Veronica[/name_f] , [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_u]Vaughn[/name_u]. All of these get you the initials E.V.
which make a cute nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and honor you.

I adore both !

Personally I know a lot more little Evelyn’s than Victoria’s at the moment !! I’m not sure if popularity is a factor.

With [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] I think my heart goes to [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Maria[/name_u] . I feel like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] flows best with [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]

Yes I agree with you, [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is very similar  I am thinking about a good nickname for [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] because I am sure they will call her [name_f]Vicky[/name_f]. Thanks a lot for your feedback!

I really like the idea but her second name will be [name_u]Maria[/name_u] and we only do 1 second name, that would be fair to the other kids

Thanks a lot! Yes I do have a “old” feel about [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. I think I prefer [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]

Would you consider [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u]?

Yes that could be a option, it does remind me of [name_f]Ave[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u]

I think [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] & [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] sound a little better as a trio as all have own starting and ending letters but but [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] does have the same comforting feel of my childhood as [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is more 1890s-1930s while even though [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is obviously also ahem Victorian, it was also a very popular name in the 1970s-noughties, and so was [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] & [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]. So I think [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] & [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] stylistically suit best while [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] has something pleasing because of the name ending (and its link to you of course). [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] would work too - all tailored, trim names. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] my ramblings help!

Thanks a lot! I appreciate your help! I prefer the name [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] but there is one issue that bothers me about pronouncing that name.

I live in Europe, The Netherlands and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is an [name_f]English[/name_f] name. People speak [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] and they would pronounce it as Ee-ve-lien instead of Ev-Lin. [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter would have to correct it most of the time.

I really like the idea of using a variant of [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] first daughters second name is [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] and second daughter first name is [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], so right now I feel a bit stuck. :pensive:

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know more nice variants of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Eveline[/name_f]?:blush:

It seems to have a few pronunciations as it used to be a boys’ name (Ev-lin/Eev-lin) but in UK/Oz seems to be more “EV-eh-lin” when used for a girl!

Meanwhile, some other options:

First just [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] itself - it’s so beautiful especially with the S not Z, and has so many pretty nicknames -Els, [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Lil[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f] etc. You might have to use ones that are the furthest from [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] - what do you call her for short? [name_f]Lise[/name_f]? Lisa-Lou? [name_u]Or[/name_u] is [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] too much with [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] in the name?

[name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u] B is truly stunning! But maybe not possible…:sob:

[name_u]Or[/name_u] else (these are variants of or related to either [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or Evelyn):

[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabella[/name_f] (love!)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (too close to [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] though)
[name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] (maybe too hard in [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] and with your last name?)
[name_f]Liliana[/name_f] (again depends on what you call [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], and I’d avoid an L name myself)
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Avelina[/name_f]
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f]
[name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]

[name_u]Or[/name_u] similar names: [name_f]Elke[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], [name_f]Amelina[/name_f] or [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]

These are my favourites, [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] & Sabella/Isabella or [name_u]Lisa[/name_u], [name_f]Naomi[/name_f] and Eve/Eva/Ava would be my pick (though I get you may not want to match Eve/Eva/Ava with [name_u]Maria[/name_u], though it’s a popular name, [name_f]Eva[/name_f] [name_u]Maria[/name_u] for eg). I like [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] but possibly too close to yours and stylistically too far from [name_u]Lisa[/name_u] and [name_f]Naomi[/name_f]? [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] might be too long & flowery for her sisters? [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] seems to work well but it is not actually related to either name. That would be my third pick after the options above.

Wildcards that works in [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] and not completely off track: [name_f]Anouk[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], Helen/Heleen, [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] that helps!

You are a great help! Thanks a lot!

I also like [name_f]Sabella[/name_f], I see that is the Spanish version of [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]. It’s a very pretty name.

I also like the names [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], [name_f]Elise[/name_f], [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] (but not so much the meaning of the name, born blind).

[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter just said that she liked the name [name_f]Elina[/name_f], which surprised me because it was also on my list. There are so many beautiful names  I didn’t know it could be this stressful

I prefer [name_f]Victoria[/name_f].

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f] could work well if you still like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I actually know a girl with this name and she’s the nicest person.

I like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] more than [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. It sounds really pretty and is such a classic name. So many cute nickname options; [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_f]Lynnie[/name_f]. Also it would be in honor of you, which is a nice sentiment!

Food for thought, [name_f]Eveline[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] are really similar. If that doesn’t bother you then go for it. But if that does bother you, then maybe use [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] as a middle name. [name_u]Maria[/name_u] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] sounds lovely too.

Big congrats! You’ve chosen a beautiful name - it flows wonderfully and it’s great that it honours you too (and I like that the girls all have their own starting letter and ending sound). All the best for the “fourth trimester”. :sparkling_heart:
