I just recently find myself liking this name after
my husband decided that he likes it. Wanted to see what kind of vibe people get from [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f]? What kind of person do you think of? What nickname preferences would you have? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer EVV-ie or EEE-vie? [name_m]Or[/name_m] something else? Thank you
It’s a name I always feel like I should like, but just can’t seem to get there. I think it might be the [name_f]Lyn[/name_f] ending that just isn’t for me. It feels dated to me, but it’s back in a big way so clearly I’m not speaking for the majority. I’d probably go EEV-ee for nickname.
For a long time I felt that way too, I don’t typically love a -Lyn ending either for a while I felt like there were Evelyn’s everywhere but now it feels kind of fresh to me.
I think I’m still struggling to find the freshness. It feels like it’s everywhere but dated at the same time. Again, I’m probably in the minority!
Evelyn is really nice! I’ve long been fond of it because of a really lovely little Filipina lady who goes to my church. She plays the organ and was a doctor before she retired; she’s just so gracious, intelligent, and lovely. So I like it when I hear it, and it reminds me of music and the most lovely of souls. I do personally prefer a few other Eve names (Evangeline and Eva are my favorites, but also Genevieve and just Eve I like a little more than Evelyn myself), but I still have great associations to the name and am very fond of it. I slightly prefer EEvee, but I do like EVV-ee a lot too.
Good luck!
Absolutely love [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f]!
She was my friend’s favourite so I have this one my list in honour of him and I do completely understand why he did love [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f]. She’s sweet, timeless, classic and has pretty cottagecore imagery attached. I love the nickname [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (eev ee) and the meanings associated with the name. I think she’s lovely. I also have been crushing on [name_f]Evelina[/name_f] for something a little more frilly.
It gives me a stylish and put together vibe - floral patterns, the smell of lavender, shades of purple, pink, green, and beige. It’s got that contemporary-vintage feel of names like [name_f]Vivian[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Lilian[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
I’m guessing you use the EV-uh-lin pronunciation? If so, I’d go with nn [name_f]Evy[/name_f] (EV-ee) or [name_m]Ever[/name_m] (like the word).
If you use EEV-lin (my personal fave), Ee-vee would be my preference
It’s pretty , used to be one of my top names and like nicknames
I prefer the [name_f]Evvy[/name_f] pronunciation (or nn Ever) especially for the Evv-uh-lin version. It’s prettier than Ee-vee, I think. That and I found every third child seemed to be [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] between 2010-2015.
I like [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f], it’s chic with a kind of classic old hollywood vibe to me (probably influenced by recently reading The [name_m]Seven[/name_m] Husbands of [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f] Hugo). I picture a girl who loves fashion, but probably also plays soccer/football or lacrosse (or any competitive team sport), she’s pretty popular among friends though some may find her a bit stand-offish but it’s just because she’s a little shy, probably participates in model UN or the debate team
For nicknames I would probably use EVV-ie just as it seems the most natural with how I would pronounce [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f]. The full name is fashionable and vintage without feeling clunky or dated. [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is an adorable nickname. I remember first falling in love with the name because of the main character in The Mummy remake who’s a courageous, kind-hearted, spunky librarian turned adventurer played by [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] Weisz.
[name_f]Evelyn[/name_f] is great
Never got on with the [name_f]Lyn[/name_f] ending, but otherwise perfect
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] (Ev Ee) is a great nickname
Nickname [name_f]Evy[/name_f] (evv) like [name_f]Evy[/name_f] Poumpouras! She’s an inspiring role model
We have an [name_f]Evelyn[/name_f] and we do not use any nick names.
