For some background, not long after I began to get more obsessed in thinking about names, I saw a post or an article somewhere online about someone naming their son [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. Since then it’s always been at the top of my boy’s list, but not for want of trying to dislodge it. I just can’t seem to get quite as excited by any of the alternatives. I had hoped that [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] might decline in popularity for girl’s but instead it only increased. Now I am facing the reality of choosing a name and it’s not just hypothetical I am finding myself too scared to use it. But just the other day, the thought of [name_u]Ever[/name_u] popped into my mind.
What do you think of [name_u]Ever[/name_u] for a boy? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it’s a good substitute for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]? Would love to hear suggestions for combos.
Gosh, love to see [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] on a boy!! So cool and kingly!
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] honestly seems a bit trendy/popular right now. I have heard it around a couple times, and have heard [name_u]Everly[/name_u] a lot.
I might be in the minority but I honestly love [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]! I would pair it with a more classic, masculine name:
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
or
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]George[/name_u]!
I would also do the same for [name_u]Ever[/name_u] if you decide to use it.
Seconding [name_m]Evander[/name_m] as a handsome, romantic substitute!
[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to NB!!!
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] is a solid choice for a boy but I would say it’s definitely unisex as I’ve probably heard of more girls named [name_u]Ever[/name_u].
Without knowing your particular name style or preferences (just assuming you don’t want anything super popular) maybe:
I think [name_u]Ever[/name_u] is gorgeous such a lovely name that feels romantic, outdoorsy and ever so charming. Works perfectly for a boy (I actually prefer for a boy) and I think is a brilliant alternative to [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
You’ve had lots of lovely suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
So many lovely suggestions for [name_u]Ever[/name_u] combos.
I think [name_u]Ever[/name_u] is a lovely alternative to [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] if you’re feeling wobbly about it.
Some combos to add to the list;
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_m]Llewelyn[/name_m]
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] (If you say it quick enough it sounds like Evelyn!)
I really like the name [name_u]Ever[/name_u] for a boy! I think it is handsome, outdoorsy, and crisp.
I personally do not like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] for a boy. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if he goes by a nickname, I think everyone will always assume that [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is a girl.
I think [name_u]Ever[/name_u] is a very solid name, but if you are looking for similar names: [name_u]Everest[/name_u], [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Evander[/name_m], [name_m]Ender[/name_m], [name_u]Enzo[/name_u], [name_m]Evo[/name_m], [name_m]Elvis[/name_m].
[name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] will always be a girls name to me. It’s too feminine for a boy and they’ll be teased for it I think.
[name_u]Ever[/name_u] is super cute and more masculine
Alternative name could be [name_u]Evren[/name_u], [name_u]Everest[/name_u], [name_u]Everett[/name_u].
I think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] “Ever” gives you the best of both worlds! I don’t find [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] at all weird for a boy. It was a boy name first!
I actually like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] as a gender neutral name. Though I think that in 2023, realistically, it would be difficult for a boy as a first name for bringing since he would be misgendered, but I think that as a middle there is no problem! I would use [name_u]Ever[/name_u] on its own as a first or as a short or nickname for [name_u]Everett[/name_u], [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] etc or use [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] as a middle. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] as a boy middle feels very Victorian cool and I like it.
There is also [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] (again), [name_m]Yves[/name_m], [name_u]Verne[/name_u] (Verne works better as a middle than a first imo), [name_m]Victor[/name_m], [name_u]Valen[/name_u], [name_u]Evan[/name_u] etc
