So, funny thing is a few weeks back I was doing research on my family tree. Found out my grandfather’s only sister was named… Everlee (I am from the deep South) I thought it was really pretty! Then I saw that the [name]Tatum[/name]'s used [name]Everly[/name] for their baby girl. I looked up the meaning, and well… was not impressed at all with it, but it left me wondering, is it a vintage name? Is it a Classic or is it just a trendy name. I have no idea where my great grandmother got the name from so, so many years ago… [name]Just[/name] funny to see it “back”
Thoughts…
[name]Do[/name] like the combo [name]Everly[/name] [name]Grace[/name] ; fwiw…
I find it trendy, sorry. I find [name]Eve[/name], [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Evelyn[/name] vintage but [name]Ever[/name] and [name]Everly[/name] more modern and trendy. Was there an [name]Evelyn[/name] or a [name]Lee[/name] in your family tree? Maybe it was a smoosh name after two relatives, given the spelling.
Good thought! WE have LOTS of [name]Lee[/name]'s… not sure about an [name]Evelyn[/name], will have to look.
I consider [name]Everly[/name] vintage. The fact that it is on trend now doesn’t take away the fact that it is an old name, just like (almost) every -ley name. I love [name]Everly[/name] but prefer just [name]Ever[/name], although I’m liking [name]Ever[/name] [name]Lee[/name]. Not a fan pf [name]Grace[/name] but there’s nothing wrong with it.
My grandmother has a smoosh name similar to Everlee. I have found plenty of other woman, also in their 80s, with her name. I’m guessing people just weren’t great spellers back then
[name]Everly[/name] is neither classic or vintage. It’s super TRENDY. There may be some Everlys in family trees as it could be a family surname but I don’t think it’s been commonly chosen for a first name until quite recently.
Well, I think there are degrees of trendiness.
It’s definitely not in the same category as Mahckynzee or Kyhnlee.
I’d put it in the same category as names like [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] because of it’s relatively standard spelling and basic sound combination.
I totally understand where you’re coming from though. I have a great grandmother whose name was [name]Nova[/name], which is currently becoming more popular and a lot of people see as trendy–though I know it’s been around for over a century.
[name]Everly[/name] might be viewed as very much of this decade in 30 years, but you just have to decide whether that bugs you I suppose.
There’s nothing about [name]Everly[/name] that is classic or vintage. It’s just trendy, plain and simple.
I’ve encountered the same thing with [name]Jackson[/name] and [name]Madison[/name]. They’re often attacked for being trendy, yet both names have been well-used in my family for at least 200 years. I still wouldn’t define them as classic or vintage though.
I’d also put it in the “trendy” category–of course that’s not to say that it isn’t a legit family name. It just happens that family names are pretty dang trendy right now.
(And by “family names” here I mean surnames.)
it’s trendy
Yep. [name]Everly[/name] screams trendy to me. It might’ve been a first name in your family tree once but that doesn’t make it vintage or classic at all!
It’s definitely a trendy name.
I put it in the trendy category. [name]Eve[/name] and a lot of the variations are classic, but Everlee, Everleigh, [name]Ever[/name], ect may have been used in days of old, but the vibe is contemporary & trendy to me. [name]Beverley[/name] has a vintage vibe.
Yep, I think the love for [name]Everly[/name] is mainly a feeling of modernizing [name]Beverly[/name]. I wouldn’t be surprised if [name]Beverly[/name] starts getting more popular in the next decade or so, I can see it being cute on a little girl the same way [name]Florence[/name] and [name]Edith[/name] are.
I think [name]Beverly[/name] feels way fresher at this point. I know 2 babies named [name]Ever[/name] and an Everleigh. Plus so many celeb baby variations. I think [name]Beverly[/name] would really work right now. [name]Even[/name] more than most names in that young-grandma age group right now.
Hubby dislikes the name so I won’t be using it for sure… it’s interesting though, that a name used so long ago, can become “trendy” but I have to agree… that is the feeling I am getting…
I don’t like to say this about many names but [name]Everly[/name] ia definitely trendy trendy trendy.
Trendy, I’d say. Nothing classic about it. However, it is pretty nonetheless.
If it’s from your family (a maiden name perhaps?) it’s great as you have a reason and a story behind your choice but I think the majority of Everlys will be named for trendiness.
A name can be old and still be trendy.
