Is [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Evy[/name_f] a name that can stand on its own? Or is it just a cute nick name for a longer name? Looking for opinions on this! Thanks!
My daughter’s [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (EE-VEE). I think you’re going to get a lot of people saying, “Oh, is that short for [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]?” [name_m]Just[/name_m] be prepared for that.
Yes, it is.
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] is a nice stand along name. A sweet vintage name that is making a comeback. I think the whole [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is short for something is just a preference. It would be lovely either way. I know a little [name_f]Eva[/name_f] who is nicknamed Evy on occasion. Coming from a mom who has an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] not short for anything I never get “what is [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] short for?” Well I should say almost never, the only time in 8 years being on Nameberry. Go for what you love.
I know two little girls who are just [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. One is EE-vee, the other is EH-vee).
I know an [name_f]Evie[/name_f] ( Eh-vee) which is a nn for [name_f]Evangelia[/name_f] . Its a cute name on its own but its even more stunning as a nn . I personally love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] .
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] is such a great name! I prefer it as a nickname, but don’t really like any of the full name versions, so I would go with just [name_f]Evie[/name_f].
I was a camp counsellor this year and one of my camper’s names was [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. I had no idea that was a nickname until the very end of the two weeks when she told me. Her full name was [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] could work just as well as [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] at being a full name.
I think it can definitely stand on its own. I know two little girls who are just named [name_f]Evie[/name_f]; it’s not short for anything.
I know a little Yvie (pronounced EE-vee). I think [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is fine on its own, but Yvie looks a bit less like a nickname to me, so maybe an option for you?
I’d say it could be a stand alone name. I knew an [name_f]Evie[/name_f], and I never even thought it could be short for anything (although I wasn’t a name nerd back then). I love [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (Ee-vee)!
I know two [name_f]Evie[/name_f]'s who are just [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (EE-vee) - one is a lawyer, and I am pretty sure neither of them really get asked if it is short for anything. I think that if [name_f]Amy[/name_f] is a perfectly fine stand alone name, I don’t see why [name_f]Evie[/name_f] shouldn’t be either. It is really beautiful, spunky and fun. I’ve found increasingly that people don’t really assume your name is a nickname unless it is Shazza or something like that.
