Expecting!! Opinions on short list??

[name]Hi[/name], I’m new to this site. [name]Just[/name] made an account because I found out I was pregnant 3 months ago, and have narrowed down our list to a few opinions. Wondering which one you guys like best and opinions in general.

[name]Susan[/name] [name]Ann[/name]
[name]Ann[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Sue[/name]
[name]Karen[/name] [name]Ann[/name]
[name]Karen[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]
Janny [name]Rebecca[/name]
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Ann[/name]

I hate to say it, but they all sound very very dated :frowning: Other than [name]Emily[/name], I know no one under the age of 15 with these names.

If I had to choose out of your combos:
[name]Ann[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Sue[/name]
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Ann[/name]

If you are open to combo suggestions with these names I would go with:
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Susan[/name]
[name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Ann[/name]

Names I like that are similar for you to consider:

Well hm. From that list I like [name]Suzanne[/name], Ginerva, [name]Emelia[/name] and [name]June[/name]. Would [name]Suzanne[/name] be better than [name]Susan[/name]?

I like [name]Helen[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]. [name]Helen[/name] is vintage, but not dated to me. [name]Emily[/name] is the most “now” but there are SO many that she has a high chance of being [name]Emily[/name] X.

[name]Susan[/name] [name]Ann[/name]- I can’t picture [name]Susan[/name] on a baby girl, or a child. With that being said, once she is in her 20’s, I can see this being a pretty name to wear. I also see that [name]Ann[/name] is used for a few names. I think this is the ultimate middle name, because it sounds great with almost every other name out there.
[name]Ann[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]- I prefer this over [name]Susan[/name] [name]Ann[/name]. I like the two classic name combination. Can’t go wrong in my book.
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Sue[/name]- Sweet and simple. I like it.
[name]Karen[/name] [name]Ann[/name]- Too rhymey for me.
[name]Karen[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name]- I prefer this, though [name]Karen[/name] seems like a name that has aged to me.
Janny [name]Rebecca[/name]- I love this! The name Janny is so pretty and underused.
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Elaine[/name]- Not a fan of [name]Helen[/name]. Very popular on this site.
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Helen[/name]- ^
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Ann[/name]- Very pretty. Probably my favorite. [name]Jennifer[/name] is a name that today’s parents aren’t using. Therefore, your child won’t be [name]Sophia[/name] A, or [name]Sophia[/name] B.

Now, I love [name]Susan[/name], from a Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name] point of view, so don’t get me wrong. I just don’t know a [name]Susan[/name] under the age of 50. [name]Suzanne[/name] is much spunkier, feels more modern, like [name]Susan[/name] with an edge. Lots of nickname potential too. I myself would definitely use [name]Suzanne[/name] over [name]Susan[/name]
Out of the few you picked out of the list, and the ones you started with, I would then suggest:
[name]Suzanne[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Suzanne[/name] [name]Emelia[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Suzanne[/name]
[name]Emelia[/name] [name]Ann[/name]
[name]Emelia[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Emelia[/name] [name]Suzanne[/name]

Are there any books/movies/songs you love that you could draw inspiration from? Some of my favorite names are from my favorite books.

[name]Rebecca[/name] and [name]Helen[/name] are my favorites on your list. Quite classic.

[name]Karen[/name] is the only one that feels very dated/not ready for revival [name]IMO[/name].

[name]Susan[/name] could grow on me! It is lovely but so rarely used today. I can picture a little [name]Susie[/name] growing into [name]Susan[/name] nicely.

I’m a [name]Rebecca[/name], so I am biased. But I do love my name.

Maybe [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Helene[/name]? I like [name]Helen[/name], but [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Helen[/name] does make it sound like an older lady.

I love [name]Rebecca[/name], personally, I think that would be refreshing to see. [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Emily[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Elaine[/name] or maybe [name]Rebecca[/name] [name]Susan[/name]?

I really like [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Helen[/name].

Instead of [name]Susan[/name] I absolutely adore fresh, pretty, vintage [name]Susannah[/name]/[name]Susanna[/name].

Instead of [name]Ann[/name], I think feminine and soft [name]Anna[/name] has a lot more energy and spark.

Instead of dated and overused [name]Jennifer[/name], how about the stunning and elegant [name]Genevieve[/name]?

[name]Karen[/name] is ok but seems dated and old fashioned on a little girl, what about the unusual but similar [name]Kerensa[/name]?

If I can make changes to your list to make the combos feel fresher and flow better whilst retaining a similar sound, how about:

[name]Susan[/name] [name]Ann[/name] - [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Susanna[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Susanna[/name] [name]Karen[/name].
[name]Ann[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] - [name]Anna[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Annabel[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Anneliese[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Anna[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Anna[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Annabel[/name] [name]June[/name].
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Sue[/name] - [name]Emily[/name] [name]Susanna[/name], [name]Emily[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Emily[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Emily[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Emily[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Emily[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Emilia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Amelie[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Susanna[/name].
[name]Karen[/name] [name]Ann[/name]/[name]Rebecca[/name] - [name]Kerensa[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Kerensa[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Kerensa[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Kerensa[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Karina[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Karina[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Karina[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Kara[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Carys[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name].
Janny [name]Rebecca[/name] - [name]Jane[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]June[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Josie[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name].
[name]Helen[/name] [name]Elaine[/name] - (I like both these names but they seem too similar to use together to me!) [name]Helen[/name] [name]Rebecca[/name], [name]Helen[/name] [name]Susanna[/name], [name]Helen[/name] [name]Emily[/name], [name]Helen[/name] [name]Kerensa[/name], [name]Helen[/name] [name]Emilia[/name], [name]Helen[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Helena[/name] [name]June[/name], [name]Helena[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Helena[/name] [name]Karen[/name], [name]Helena[/name] [name]Catherine[/name].
[name]Jennifer[/name] [name]Helen[/name]/[name]Ann[/name] - [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Geneva[/name] [name]Helen[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Anna[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Anna[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Geneva[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name] [name]Elaine[/name], [name]Geneva[/name] [name]Elaine[/name].

Good luck! And congratulations on your pregnancy

I’m going to go against the grain here and say that I actually like a lot of your names - some people may find Ann and Helen “dated” but I think they are solid classics which are ready for a comeback. I also like Emily and Jennifer quite a bit.

Out of your combos, my favorites are Ann Catherine and Jennifer Helen. I wouldn’t pair Helen and Elaine together, because they’re essentially just two forms of the same name - Helen is the original Greek, while Elaine is the French variation of Helen.

I like the previous posters’ suggestions of Helena, Jane, June and Suzanne.

Other names that may interest you:

Joyce (folks will say this is dated, too, but I really like it)

Good luck!

I really love [name]Helen[/name]! I agree with a previous comment that said it sounds vintage. Plus it’s easy for smaller kids to pronounce as we’ve discovered when we finally named the last of the new set of barbies! (Am I the only one who goes through the ritual of “naming” dolls with her daughters? It’s fun!). I also really like [name]Elaine[/name] but I dislike how they sound together. They both have a heavy “L” sound and I find that I’m forcing it out. I know it’s a popular middle name and that us berries are starting to refer to it as a “filler” but in this case I really love the sound of [name]Helen[/name] [name]Rose[/name]. It’s altogether perfectly vintage.

Hm. I don’t really like any of those names besides [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Elaine[/name] to be honest. You have a very classic style. I like some of the recommendations - [name]Jane[/name], [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Anna[/name]
