Myself, along with some other family members, have been thinking about adding 1 or 2 family names to ours, legally. Both are surnames, one in particular that was being passed down as a shared middle.
I already have two middle names and am wondering if anyone has any insight on how having 3-4 middles has effected their life (documentation, etc).
Never done that, but I’ve handled legal paperwork after the death of a parent that was a junior. That was extremely tedious in itself and the difference between the two was a suffix only.
I’d imagine what you’re talking about is probably going to cause the same headache with SSA, income taxes, passports, DMV, etc.
I have two middle names as well, and I always leave my second middle name off on official paper work for the sake of simplicity. Official docs (except my birth certificate) have a limited amount of space for names as it is. But I live in the US where it’s not very common to have two middle names. I believe it’s more common and expected in the UK. Ultimately, from my experience, official paperwork isn’t overly concerned with my middle names.
