Now usually I dont like boys names on girls BUT I have had [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] on my boys list for a long timer and the more I think about it the more I like it for either gender!
What do you think? Could it work on a girl or should it stay on the boys side??
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is all boy to me. I can see how it would be appealing as a girl’s name, with the -a on the end, but I can only see it as a boy’s name.
I like the [name_f]Esme[/name_f] idea, but as far as [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is concerned, it’s a very adamant no. Leave it to the boys. People will make incorrect assumptions about her gender from the start, and that’s going to get old really fast. Besides, God knows the boys don’t have too many names left anymore that belong exclusively to them. [name_u]Jordan[/name_u], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Randy[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], even [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] and [name_u]Sailor[/name_u]…let’s allow them to hang onto [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
I’m sure if you dig, there have to be other names out there with a similar sound that won’t cause any confusion.
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is a boy’s name for me. I am still upset the [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_m]Reynolds[/name_m] and [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively named their daughter [name_u]James[/name_u]. I am still hoping it a hoax to get reporters off their backs. Anyway, I would look for a girl’s name that shared some of [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]'s qualities. Maybe . . .
[name_f]Esta[/name_f]
[name_f]Asta[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f] (though after Frozen )
[name_f]Shira/name_f
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is now #119 for boys and uncharted for girls. I personally think [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is all boy, and the fact it’s rising in popularity pretty quickly I wouldn’t advise you use it on a girl.
I like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] for a girl, very much. I hate to say it, but I’ve never liked the name [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. For many years it struck me as very puritan, and not in the good “pioneering spirit” way, but in the uneducated, powertripping-preacher-manipulating-his-smalltown-congregation, fundamentalist way. Of course, used nowadays for the sound it just seems trendy. I know a 6 year old [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] whose name suited him because his parents were professional musicians and the name seemed strikingly original to use back then, but now that the name has grown so much in popularity I don’t care for it anymore. Until now. Yes, on a girl, I’d like it.
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] on a girl is like a compressed version of [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f]. In fact, I’d just use [name_f]Esmerelda[/name_f], but spell it with a Z, then give her [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] as a nn. [name_m]Ezrah[/name_m] is nice, too. Here’s a name you might like: [name_f]Hestia[/name_f].
I have a girl friend named [name_m]Esra[/name_m]! So I would say if your going to name your girl [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] spell it [name_m]Esra[/name_m] because its a legitimate girls name
