[name_u]Ezri[/name_u] is cute.
It’s pretty
Hmm…I really do think that names should stop hopping the line. I can see why people would think that, just because it ends in an -ah sound, that it sounds feminine (I’ve even seen people try to justify [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] as a girls’ name, just because of the -lin ending!), but that doesn’t exactly make it valid, in my personal opinion. [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is fully masculine to me. I really love the suggestion of [name_u]Ezri[/name_u] for you. Pretty good compromise!
I dislike it. There are literally billions of girl names that end in ‘a’. So why anyone would be tempted to pick one of a few that is, not only solidly masculine, but also a very trendy popular boy name at the moment, is beyond me. [name_f]Ezria[/name_f] would be a more appropriate choice, or perhaps [name_f]Zara[/name_f], in my opinion at least.
I’m actually really surprised that so many people are extremely deadset on the fact that [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is a boy name and shouldn’t be used as a girl name.
Now, [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is an alright name to me for a boy, but not really my style for a boy or girl. So, no, I personally wouldn’t name my child that.
However, my surprise comes in when I think of girl names that have gotten nothing but positive feedback on threads I’ve seen, like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] (sounds like a cleaner, a fruit, a flavoring) or [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] (what even??).
These names are so not feminine and frankly, very ugly where I’m concerned. But everyone has their own personal taste and that’s why I try to be a little nicer even when I’m gagging on the inside.
I don’t think the OP wants to name her child [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], she is only trying to find a way around it to make someone she loves happy.
Hopefully, she will be able to convince him to compromise on a name with [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] as a nickname, or another name entirely. This is likely as its her baby too, haha. And she has had a million suggestions from us, so chill, this little girl probably won’t have a boy name. I’m sure her hubby is flexible. =]
I don’t mind [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] for a girl. I had a suggested friend on IG with twin girls named [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. It started growing on me after that. I do like the suggestions of [name_m]Esra[/name_m] if the fact that it’s a boy name really bothers you. Might I suggest [name_u]Azariah[/name_u]? My friend has an [name_u]Azariah[/name_u] my daughter’s age and I’ve always liked the name. She also has a [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] and Nazaria (all her kids have Z’s in their names) if those strike your fancy.
I appreciate you sharing your personal opinion!
Thank YOU! Someone that seems to have actually read my entire post and realizes I don’t LIKE [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] for a boy OR girl! LOL
We’re not actually expecting, we’re just brainstorming names for a future child we plan to TTC soon. So, I can’t help but giggle when some posters seem to get their undies in such a bunch over a little girl being named [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. Though, I greatly appreciate EVERYONE’S feedback and opinions, I don’t understand why some are so firm.
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]. It’s a beautiful name. On a boy or a girl. But it’s just not my particular naming style. But my DH loves it. He’s talked about the name for months and especially loves it for a girl. Keep in mind, he is not a “namer.” In fact, the only names he’s ever really come up with are [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]. He can’t seem to come up with any others! I’m usually the one to throw out names and gather his thoughts on it.
Anyways, again… thank you for saying this. I know opinions are just opinions and people are trying to be helpful by letting me know their thoughts, but sometimes I feel like I’m being straight judged for even considering and/or having the thought to name a girl [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] lol.
I appreciate your suggestions! [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] and [name_f]Olive[/name_f] is an adorable pairing. I love the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but my DH does not and I’ve mentioned the name to family before and they all about gag lol.
I would not Erza for a girl. I would recommend saving it for a boy.
I know two girls named [name_m]Esra[/name_m] and they both love their name. I would probably use the [name_m]Esra[/name_m] spelling since it’s recognised as a female name, but maybe the [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] spelling would lead to less confusion?
I get kind of annoyed when people start their “why use boy names on girls” rant instead of offering solutions. I remember this happened when I asked about [name_f]Noa[/name_f] in the forums as well.
It is a tad bit annoying! [name_f]Noa[/name_f] on a girl is really sweet, by the way.
I’m surprised you know two [name_m]Esra[/name_m]'s! [name_f]May[/name_f] I ask where you live?
Very lovely!
I like [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] for a boy and I love [name_m]Esra[/name_m] for a girl.
I’m not into boy names for girla. What about Ezira, Ezora, [name_u]Ezri[/name_u], [name_f]Ezria[/name_f], [name_u]Isra[/name_u], [name_f]Iza[/name_f]?
