Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust - Peter Pan names

One of my favourite stories of all time is [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] - I love just about everything about it, and the story has a lot of meaning to me, and in a way, so does J.M. [name_u]Barrie[/name_u]. [name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I was a little girl, I’ve loved the story of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and Tinkerbell, and have always been in love with the idea of fairies and magic and everything else (“[name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_m]Trust[/name_m] and [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] Dust.”), but the story and connections run deeper than that for me.

I’ll start from the beginning - my grandmother was born in [name_f]England[/name_f], in 1936, and was born without hip sockets, and as a result, spent the majority of her childhood in Great [name_m]Ormond[/name_m] [name_m]Street[/name_m] Hospital (GOSH). She was often getting into mischief, despite being in a full body cast until she was 6, and despite being told she would never walk - she did eventually walk, was able to play lacrosse as a schoolgirl, married, and had 4 daughters and 7 grandchildren. Her story is absolutely amazing in my eyes, but J.M. [name_u]Barrie[/name_u] plays a big part in this too.

In 1929, J.M. [name_u]Barrie[/name_u] gave the rights to [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] to GOSH, so that they would continuously be able to collect funds via royalties, which has ‘provided significant income to the hospital’. In short, that hospital provided a safe home and protection for my grandmother during the war, and gave her the necessary surgeries and treatments to allow her to walk, have children, etc.

Because of his donations to GOSH, my grandmother, and millions of other children have been able to receive care from GOSH, and have been able to make recoveries from various illnesses and disabilities. Honestly, I feel as though honouring the story of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] in a name (as a first or middle) would be a brilliant tribute to the story that I love, and the children’s hospital that has really, made it possible for my family to exist.

So, here is my list of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] related girls names ([name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u] are already on my boys list, as well as [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] (JM [name_u]Barrie[/name_u]'s birth name is [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_u]Barrie[/name_u]):

[name_f]Wendy[/name_f]
[name_f]Pixie[/name_f]
Darling - MN only
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f]

Would any of these names fit into my lists? What are your opinions on these names as firsts/middles? ([name_f]Faith[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] come from [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_m]Trust[/name_m] and [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] Dust).

Thank you.

I think those names would fit perfectly. Darling and [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] are much more daring and a little more juvenile sounding but I think they could work as middles. [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] is clearly from [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] but [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] are more of a subtle nod to it. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps

Awesome names! I love [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m]. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or some form of it would work to play off [name_m]Tiger[/name_m] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]…perhaps [name_f]Marina[/name_f] as a tie to the mermaids? [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]'s middle names, [name_f]Moira[/name_f] and [name_f]Angela[/name_f]. [name_f]Fae[/name_f] means fairies (clap your hands!) [name_m]Kensington[/name_m] could work, as coyld [name_f]Jane[/name_f], the name of [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]'s daughter.

I love, love, love the meaning behind this. My personal favorite is Darling as a middle name. I just find it so, well, darling. I’ve toyed with [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] Darling in the past. Darling could work with so many of your girls names. [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] Darling is particularly adorable. I think [name_f]Faith[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f] are a bit of a stretch and less obvious, but again, that could be a more subtle nod towards the story, though if I’m being honest and heard your explanation, I don’t know if I’d be as touched as I’d be by something more obvious like Darling or [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]. It’s a personal preference, though, and the meaning only has to work for you. I even think [name_m]Pan[/name_m] could also work for either gender as a middle name.

I’m wondering about [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] as a first name, if I’m honest, because while it’s juvenile to some, so are many other names on my long list, and I honestly think they’re lovely - and with the connection, it might be worth it, but I’m not sure yet. I think I like the subtleness of [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Faith[/name_f], (and [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] for a boy, after J.M. [name_u]Barrie[/name_u]), but I’m not sure if they’re too subtle, unless in a set of triplets named [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Pixie[/name_f].

I do have [name_f]Lily[/name_f] on my list, and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], so that could work, though I doubt it’s as noticeable of a connection? [name_f]Marina[/name_f] is lovely too, and I completely forgot [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]'s middle names! I do feel like I’m warming to the name [name_f]Angela[/name_f], and I love [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (the name of the little girl [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] was based off of). Thank you!

I think Darling is one of my favourites too, I’d like use something like [name_f]Fenella[/name_f] Darling or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] Darling, to be honest! [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] Darling is gorgeous too though, and connects to my grandmother’s absolute adoration for all things Disney in a way (All the women on my mum’s side of the family seem to have gotten that trait!). That’s one point I was a little worried about, that [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and [name_f]Faith[/name_f] may be a little less connected than something like [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]. I’m not sure I could commit to [name_m]Pan[/name_m] though, because Darling is already a bit of a step outside of my box, haha!

Thank you so much - I think I may make a poll in a little bit to see which girl’s name tied to [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] would be the best!

I love the idea of [name_f]Fae[/name_f] as a nod to the fairies. [name_f]Fae[/name_f] is sucha sweet name

I think [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] fits in beautifully with your favourites and Darling would make a lovely middle. I also think you could call any daughter [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] as a nickname, regardless of what her actual name is. Also, it might be quite the stretch perhaps, but you could use [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], and call her [name_m]Pan[/name_m]. Lastly, [name_f]Belle[/name_f] (for Tinkerbel), [name_f]Star[/name_f] or [name_u]Bird[/name_u] (‘The [name_m]Little[/name_m] White [name_u]Bird[/name_u]’ was the novel [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] first appeared in - 1902).

I think your story behind the significance of [name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Pan[/name_m] to you is beautiful - a great namesake to share with your little one.

Thank you! I am definitely thinking about [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] more and more, and I have [name_f]Belle[/name_f] on my list, as well as several names that mean [name_f]Star[/name_f] - [name_f]Stella[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_u]Seren[/name_u] I’d definitely like to do it, but I feel like right now, the star names ([name_f]Stella[/name_f] also is a family name through my grandfather), [name_f]Verity[/name_f], [name_f]Faith[/name_f], [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Pixie[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] (after the little girl that [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] was created after) and [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] are likely my closest choices - I love Darling as a middle name, but it’s more of a pet name I’ve always used, so I’m not sure about that, because I’d likely call them Darling anyways - and for boys, [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] are all higher up on my list.

Thank you SO much for sharing your story with us, it is WONDERFULLY [name_f]PRECIOUS[/name_f] and a MAGICAL inspiration for naming your Children which will doubtless bring them great delight and make them feel very loved!

I grew up with a close Family [name_m]Friend[/name_m] called [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] and her Mother often called her “Friendy [name_f]Wendy[/name_f]”, which is how the Name first came about, which I always thought was lovely and sweet! For me, [name_f]Wendy[/name_f] is a Name filled with warmth, tenderness and affection! An orangey [name_f]Autumn[/name_f] leaf Name!
